Ouch! The dreaded transfer case actuator leak. Not cheap, not easy to fix. I got lucky and had the whole actuator replaced at the dealer under warranty the first week I had my 4Runner. Would have been a hefty price to pay otherwise.

Not open to buying a stock one and having it lifted? There will be lots more to chose from. I'll sell you my 08' V8 Limited with every option Toyota offered that year and you can slap your own lift on there. What is it about BMW's and 4Runners? I had 3 BMW's before I bought mine.

Yea..... I wasn't 100% serious on that one. Probably not a good idea to yank the front drive shaft. I did do it every summer on my 1998 Grand Cherokee V8 - OH GOD was that a fun car to drive in 2WD in the summer time. Again... different times I know... different transfer case in the T4r, lots...

If breaking the tires loose is what you "are in need of" then yank yer' front driveshaft out. You'll be doing donuts in no time!
