Calling all bodywork experts -- where to cut core support to weld in new front end

I have a similar project in process on an older toyota. Good thing is they built them with the same idea for structure ever since. With that being said, I don't have to replace my inner fender pieces, only the front piece of sheet metal. So take this only as another idea on which way to do it...

Gradual drop in fuel mileage, help me troubleshoot

Quick info, 96 4runner, 3.4, automatic, 254,000 miles. Previous owner installed a k&n intake, which appears to have had modifications, as there is a Brass fitting threaded into one spot on the tube, that wasn't a port originally. Other then that, the engine appears to be OE So when I bought my...

Official 3rd gen 4Runners on 35's Pic Thread

I figured I should probably include mine now, Although I find it ironic that this list doesn't include what lift setup us on the truck? I believe stock coils all around, bilstein 5100's on top perch up front, and 2" spring spacer in the rear What wheels are you running? American Outlaw, I...

    Help on Axle identification

Definitely not interested in repairing a pet that was just installed. But do actuators ever fail? Or is the mechanism solid in design? Is our the same rebuild as an open differential? You wouldn't suggest replacing any parts of the locking mechanism?

    Help on Axle identification

After some further scouring, I found someone closer well claims he had 2 broken e lockers, with enough parts to make 1 good one for $100. Is there anything in these that breaks that would be considered out of the pheasable realm of repair?

    Help on Axle identification

While doing my routine craigslist surf for anything I can't live without, I stumbled across an ad for a 3rd gen 4runner rear differential. In my usual search these don't pop up by themselves, and to get one in what's claimed to be good working order, I've seen them start at $300 and some...

    Extended sway bar links

I did lots of searching on this just about a month ago, if you do a 2 inch lift, there is a pretty straight forward option. 2nd gen 4runner rear sway bar links, on the front of the 3rd gen 3rd gen front sway bar links, installed on the rear Those have some pretty darn close measurements to do...

Suspension feels wobbly when coming out of corner

Rear control arm bushings I would suspect. The fact that you feel it when you unload the drivetrain tells me that. When your on the throttle it's trying to roll the axle in one direction, holding it tight against the worn bushings, and when you release the load, its allowed to wander inside...

How much does your 3rd gen weigh?

I have 35s, and a tube rear bumper, and a subwoofer in the back. Full tank of fuel with mr. In it weighed 4400. I thought it was heavy until I started reading through this thread! I have to make a comment that I was a bit surprised that it was only 100 pounds different from front to back axles!

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I put 315/75-16s on the truck. Pretty pleased so far. It has spacers on the stock front shocks, whi CNN have the bushing completely blown out of. So it should quit rubbing when I get my 5100s installed

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

First post on T4R. Gave my 96 a little dignity, replaced the fast and furious black seats with a well used set of power leather seats. I plan on recovering them both, but couldn't stand driving in these terrible black things anymore. First drive home from work was very pleasant! Working on...
