    K&N air filter ???????

Response Frankly, both camps of folks who have posted are wrong. Check out Gadget's site for info on filters and his 4Runner : http://www.gadgetonline.com/airinduction.htm#Modified%20Air%20Box: Hi-flow air filters do in fact help an engine breath easier (much like a cold air intake or just...

Is a Car or SUV more suitable for "ski-trip" driving?

The stock Bridgesonte Duehler HT's that came on mine are not. If the model you are looking at has larger rims, they may come with different tires. Several threads here on good snow tire options - Michilen LTX MS, Toyo Open Country AT, Bridgestone Duehler Revo AT, etc... Also please please...

Is a Car or SUV more suitable for "ski-trip" driving?

Ski bums out here in the pacific northwest swear by Subaru's. One of the new turbo charged Outbacks would be my vote.

Looking to buy a Forester or 4Runner

Another reason to buy the V6 :)

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

The guys who do the 0-60 tests are professional drivers, testing on closed tracks under ideal conditions. Gives you an idea of what a vehicle is capable of, but not exactly something that can be duplicated in day to day driving.

Looking to buy a Forester or 4Runner

apples and oranges A lot of folks here may not know what a Forester XT is -- it is the sport wagon version of the Forester, with a 2.5 liter turbocharged boxer engine pushing out 210 hp and 235 fp of torque. Pretty speedy (7ish seconds 0-60), crappy gas mileage (19ish in town). Both are...

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

Simple. I spilled half a New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire on my keyboard. My "0" has been sticky ever since. Downside is spilling my beer made me cry :(

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

Data The only relevant data for this discussion would be a test of both a v6 and a v8 4runner under the same conditions. A review of the v8 that has no info for the v6 (or vice versa) isn't very helpful, and a conclusion drawn from it isn't very accurate. Either engine choice ranks among the...

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

    I already did... I already did. You didn't like what it said :b 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (4dr SUV) Transmission: Automatic, Engine: 4.00L, Cyl: 6, Hp: 245, 0-60 time: 7.92, MPG: 17 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (4D Utility 4WD V8) Engine: 4.70L, Cyl: 8, Hp: 235, 0-60 time: 8.61, MPG: 15...

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

I disagree I disagree. The data I have seen puts both the v6 and the v8 0-60 times are just under 8 seconds. That is pretty damn fast for a 42000 pound SUV. The only things in the 4runner's size range I have seen that are siginificantly faster are BMW's or Jeep Grand Cherokee's with hemi v8's.

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

Post some data Post some links or data to back up the claim that the v6 is a full second slower in 0-60 than the v8. Every web site I've found that has data for both shows the two about even,or the v6 with a slight lead over the current generation v8. The addition of vvt to the 2005 v8 will...

    SR5 V6 0-60 time

0-60 According to the specs for various 4Runner models on this site: http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib_autos.php/year=2004/modelid=400//make=TOYOT The 2004 4.0 v6 actually outperforms the 4.7 v8 in 0-60 times. It doesn't surprise me. VVT in the 4.0 = a nice steady torque curve...

    cargo net

Where to buy nets? My 4Runner didn't come with the cargo nets... any idea where I could buy a set? I've seen the net that goes across behind the lifgate for sale on web sites, but not the stretchy one that goes on the floor. And I don't know if the across net (which has octogonal mesh) is a...

    Decisions...

Get the v6 I'd just get the V6... Unless you are towing a big (4000-5000#) boat, the v8 is overkill. For 2004 the six is rated at 245 hp, 282 foot pounds of torque -- that is more than most competitors entry level v8's, and dwarfs the power of the previous generation Runner (183 and 217)...
