Yes, you’ll need them eventually if you want your hatch to open fully and stay open. My OEM shocks wore out pretty fast (within a few months). Ordered some from amazon, and they were very easy to install.

Yes, Gobi Stealth with no-rise. Rack is great, haven't noticed any additional wind noise over the stock rails with a Rola basket which was what I had up there previously. No regrets about the Gobi decision.
