I know that I am not the brightest bulb in the box...BUT..

I seen the same display with the gears at our local auto parts store.. I guess what I am saying is - I can see no input or exit holes/ports in the oil pump housing. Then how is the oil getting into the gears and back out of the gears. The gears are recessed inside of the oilpump.. The only part...

I know that I am not the brightest bulb in the box...BUT..

I can see what you are saying but I have removed the gears and there are no hole/ports in the oil pump housing. I may be a little dense so how does the gears move oil unless it is friction of the oil and the face(side showing in the picture) of the gears. I have really looked at this set up and...

I know that I am not the brightest bulb in the box...BUT..

This is a fairly newly rebuild on this engine and the oil pump is new as well.. It has always taken a long time to build pressure. I have a mechanical and electric gauge on the truck and they both say about the same thing. There is a lot of noise when you first start the engine but quiets down...

I know that I am not the brightest bulb in the box...BUT..

Earlier I started a thread about my oil pressure problem.. Here is a picture of my (85 4runner 22RE) oil pump. I have taken the grears out and looked but I dont see how this this thing pumps oil. Since I am haveing trouble with it taking a long time (20-30 seconds) to build oil pressure does...

    oil pressure problem

I wish I had pictures of the oil galley plugs. I thought the galley plugs were all onder the oil pan but I have read that this is not the case. I guess this only leads me to the oil pump itself. I have a book that tells how to install the oil pump but it was a bit vague.. Is there any...

    oil pressure problem

This engine has been run for about 100 miles so the grease in the oil pump shouldnt matter at this point should it. Oil pressure comes up before the engine gets warm so I cant see how it could be expansion of the block causubg the oil pressure to come up.. I was just hoping some else had this...

    oil pressure problem

oi pressure problem Just to give more information. I rebuilt the engine myself, I did not check the oil gallery plugs but I ask the shop who checked and hot tanked my block and they said they did not remove the plugs. I have not dropped the oil pan yet but I guess I will have to do it. I did a...

    oil pressure problem

I have asked this on other forums but no one can help me. I have a 85 4runner with a 22REC engine. When I start the engine it takes 20 - 30 seconds for the oil pressure to start registering in my electric and mechanical gauges. I usually have to raise the RPMs a bit also otherwise it doesnt come...
