Thanks! Yes - the platform is secured to the 4Runner at a couple of different locations: 1) Bolted down to the two factory bolt locations just behind the rear seats, and 2) Screwed down to the body with self-tapping screws, located toward the hatch. These might not be the greatest...

You could do that, but then the shield would be in contact with the catalyst heat shield and could rattle.

I'm the poster from the other forum; no offense taken, LOL! Here's the photo I referenced (not my photo); you trim the corner by the bolt on the left side of the photo to allow the shield to move downward before it contacts the cross-bar.
