I had "billies" on my 97 Grand Cherokee before I got my 4Runner. They were great, but honestly too stiff for us. KYBs from what I read are the closest thing to stock. I have XREAS but have given up on them. Let us know how they fair.... Good luck

Sure looks as though you want to get things "stock", I'm interested as well. Although I don't see a leak on my XREAS, the ride is terrible and wanted to take them off and do OEMs, but if these KYBs are as good or better, I'm in!

Good luck with your project! I haven't driven my rig much lately, needs work (rear pinion bear going, new brakes needed, new shocks and soon new tires will be needed), right now can't spend a lot on it. Regarding the forum, it's sad, I also predict it may stop working as there are no apparent...

Yep, this is why I haven't chimed in or logged on in a while, it is very annoying. Hopefully it can be resolved soon. Seems as though it will take some $$ to update the forum platform, makes me wonder if members are willing to help make this happen. This is a great with TONS of info.

Alternator Change Well, after 20 years of working fine, alternator finally gave out. Symptoms started about a year ago, I changed the battery and all seemed ok. I have a USB charger (cigarette lighter plug) with a volt display and it read 13v. Didn't think much of it when I noticed the readings...

I have a failing rear pinion bearing which has been making whirling sounds for some time now. Toyota wants $1800 for the fix (new pinion bearing + cost of removing it, etc). I have yet to find a shop that will tackle this cheaply around where I live, very frustrating. Great to hear you found a fix!

Because of this post, I engage my 4Hi very often, I would say at least 10x a year. A few years before, I noticed mine would take a long time to engage. Now, because I "exercise the actuator", it engages pretty quickly. Thanks Kmvreter for this post.

The right-most button is a settings button, press it and go from there. Very easy. I can't remember exactly how to change settings, but it may involve holding the button down for options. Again, very easy.

Not snake oil, it works. It worked for me several years ago when my shutter started. Some time after that, I had the tranny flushed and filled at Toyota and a few years later, the shutter began again. Drcoffee , interesting device you have set up, gonna look into it.
