To rebuild or go used - that is the question......

I totally agree!!!! The dealer quoted 1939.62 for the factory unit, though I'm thinking (well, hoping) that I can get them to at least match the pricing of another online Toyota dealer/parts site of 1454.72; we shall see.......

To rebuild or go used - that is the question......

FINALLY heard back from the dealer, they can order a Toyota re-man'd unit; which is what I'm thinking I'll probably go with. I'm HELLA hesitant w/going used (even through the dealer) but maybe the extra 1k difference between used/new (installed) will help change my mind...... UGGGGGGH.

Had the "pink milkshake", need transmission advice.. replace? re-build?

Dude I feel your pain as I experienced, word for word, the EXACT situation in my '97; after 236.5k. My radiator/trans cooler went, I had it replaced and it seemingly was fine then it started slipping and now it's finally gone. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options in the East Lansing...

To rebuild or go used - that is the question......

LOOOOOOL - no worries, I've a had a few of those "slips" today as well. I'm hoping the dealer will come through with something, or it's the "local" shop by default. Oh, and I was checking out your thread about upgrading your 4Runner - VERY nice!!!! I'd gladly send mine your way for a...

To rebuild or go used - that is the question......

Thanks for the response and the WIKI info - greatly appreciated!! Yeah, those are my thoughts on going 'used' as well....... I placed a call to the dealer to inquire on the possibility of either a new or rebuilt unit, so I'll wait to hear from them. Where is this J & A place located? Are they...

To rebuild or go used - that is the question......

So, after 15 yrs/237.8k (and a radiator & trans cooler replacement), my transmission finally decided to call it quits. I don't necessarily want to get rid of my 4Runner but I’m unsure of what to do. The shop [University Foreign] that I use for the majority of service needed recommended a local...

97 4x4 LTD - question is too many miles?

Just picked up my '97 SR5 w/210k for 4200.xx - one owner, all records - LOVIN' IT!! For 6500.xx, I'm sure you can find another one w/fewer miles.

    New MI 4runner owner

Hi All!!! New 4runner owner in East Lansing, MI. Picked up my '97 SR5 w/210k as a 2nd vehicle to fulfill the need for a larger car. So far, no complaints - the previous owner took excellent care of the truck, so it's been an easy transition thus far. The only thing I plan on doing @ the moment...
