    Roof Leak

I fixed my leak, but I'm not sure what the actual leak was. I applied RTV, cleaned out the sunroof drains, lubed the sunroof seals, reseated the door weather seals among maybe a couple other things. It hasn't leaked since. 5+ years now. Sorry I dont have a better answer. Holes in the roof are...

    *** V6 Head Gasket Action Request ***

You should be good after the fix. Did mine almost 10 years ago and no issues since. Only put about 60k on it, though.

I did mine in September 2011. I've only put about 60k on it since then, but no problems since. :thumb3:

5th Gen Exhaust on 4th Gen

Good info. Thanks. Maybe I'll give it a shot. :thumb:

5th Gen Exhaust on 4th Gen

Does anyone know if the factory exhaust on a 5th gen will bolt up to a 4th gen? Both V6s. The OE part numbers are different, but aftermarket exhaust kits always claim 04-20 fitment. I could get up under there and check out hanger locations and such, but the internet is all knowing. Reason I...

    05 V6 Head Gasket Purchase

Mine only had 88k on it when I did the job. I bought an engine seal/gasket kit from Toyota and replace any gasket or rubber that I came into contact throughout the job. If mine had double the mileage, I probably would have considered changing the timing chains and tensioners. I would have...

    05 V6 Head Gasket Purchase

The headgasket isn't too bad of a job. I did it on mine back in Fall 2011. It was the most intense DIY I'd ever taken on. I basically just did it step by step, reading from the FSM. I pulled the engine on mine to do it. I figured it would be easier on a stand than in the chassis. It sounds...

I got mine from Conicelli Toyota. partznet.com

    *** V6 Head Gasket Action Request ***

The V6 isn't a quiet running engine, so don't worry about that. If the head gasket it leaking, what you will experience at cold startup is a misfire. As it gets progressively worse, the CEL will illuminate and you'll get the codes listed elsewhere in this thread. The misfire at cold startup is...

Mine was .001" out of tolerance also, which required milling. I've seen several others with the same experience. I have to believe that the heads were not machined properly and that this is the root cause.

    Roof Leak

I pulled the drip rail trim. I was hoping to find something obvious like a rusted out spot weld, but I didn't. I dumped a bottle of water into that channel and the hole I photographed above weeps, so it looks like I've narrowed it down. It's a slow drip. One thing I did notice is that it...

    Roof Leak

I've still got a leak somewhere. It rained this afternoon, so I thought it would be a good time to pull some things apart to see what's up. The pictures show what I found. In order... Wet seatbelt...line of water running down the b-pillar, dripping on the seatbelt...dry front sunroof...

    Roof Leak

Thanks. Yeah, I have considered that rear drain as well, but I dumped some water back there and it immediately drained and dumped on the ground behind the rear wheel. I obviously can't see back there to determine if it may be partially clogged, but I feel confident in my test right now. If...

    Roof Leak

I'm out here in Virginia and it's been very wet all year. I noticed the wet seat belt a few months ago, but haven't had time to do much about it until recently (I just hop in the 5th gen after a rain!). I RTV'd the mount up pretty good, so if it was leaking there before, it shouldn't now. :D

    Roof Leak

I have not experienced it when it's leaking, but just the after effects. For me, that was a very wet drivers floor pan. There was a dead bug stuck in the drain hole. Blew him out with shop air and all good (after letting it air dry for a couple days in my shop). :thumb3:
