    '06 4Runner - 40k miles, new transmission!

Similar story. I left a BMW 3 series for more room and seeking long-term reliability. After my 4runner died and was almost lemoned, thousands in PM and $1400 in oow repairs days after the warranty expired, I traded it in on another 3 series. At least all the repairs and maintenance will now...

If gas gets to $5.00 a gallon

Works for the Europeans. They live longer, healthier, but wait -- they don't have to protect the world.

Worker: 'Toyota Way' Ignored at Factory

Yes. $3k in repairs later, my 2-year old 4runner is gone. I'm in a nice reasonable BMW.

If gas gets to $5.00 a gallon

Gone at three fitty I had to get rid of this thing when gas hit three fitty. Between that and the constant repairs, I couldn't afford a Toyota and had to go back to a BMW.

    Toyota Showing Achilles Heel

I have been dissapointed in my 2005 4runner. First, the ECU died at 11k and the car was out of service for 21 days. The ECU was handled adequately by the dealer but I wouldn't say they went out of their way. Then there's the dreaded clunk when idling. The clunk, Toyota says is normal. Then...

    what toyota quality?

Mid-1990s GMs are horrendous. Pre-1990s are like tanks. I had a 1989 Pontiac LE 6000 and it ran like a tank (though the paint wore off). Only one valve sensor, then I donated it. Then I had a 1994 Grand Am. I owned ot for 5 months in 1999 and after 2500 worth of work traded it in for a...

    4runner death

Update Bad ECU was replaced. Some type of short in the fuse box caused it. Car is fixed and back.

    4runner death

Lemon Law Current status: Computer still on backorder. Expected around 5/17 (which makes the car out of service for 20 days). In NY, if the vehicle is out of service for 30 days w/in the 1st 18k miles or 2 years (whichever is sooner) for one or more reasons, it is presumed il limon...

2002 4Runner dies when put in a gear, HELP!

Re: A Happy Ending Wow is this how long it's gonna take to get mine back?

That's if they can get it running. I am keeping both options open, trust me.

    4runner death

    Wasn't the fuse box. Let's try the computer . . . That's at least a week.

    4runner death

Dealer's nice but doesn't have a clue. They say it's the fuse box, which they have to order from New Jersey. After talking to them I thought that that makes no sense since the car had accessory power. A friend of mine said said she thought it was the fuel pump -- which made a lot of sense.

    4runner death

It's probably a lot simpler than the litigation I do for a living. Of course, if the car breaks once no judge (or arbitrator) is going to make them buy the car back. Complete unanticipated loss of power while driving though? That's as serious as serious gets.
