Answering my own question, I talked to Gobi today and according to them it's 78" between the front riser and the rear upper bar on a 5th gen 4Runner.

Last question on this: does anyone have the length of the Gobi rack between the front rise bar and the rear bar or the "basket"? Meaning, the usable length of the basket. Thanks a lot!

Ah, that's interesting regarding the welded crossbars. I didn't know that. I'll get the adjustable ones, so I can place them as needed, at least as long as I'll still be able to reach the bolts. If I understand this correctly, I could actually bolt the tent to the crossbars, lay it on the rack...

Do you have some more photos of this mounting? It sounds like you mounted the CVT to the standard front crossbar that comes with the Gobirack (Stealth Rack?) and the rear to the surround bar? I have a Gobi Stealth rack coming in August (welder is assigned now, so this might actually happen)...
