Was playing with it again this morning. That plug is not a great seal. It fits and does not move, but nowhere near air tight. There is air moving around it. I kinda think its purpose might be noise suppression.

OMG, that would suck. So nerd moment... I have a dB meter. I have not done a great job of working out the difference yet. But I doubt it will be measurable, unless you are at high RPMs. At rest, inside, don't think there is a difference.

Yes and no. Its possible over a long time horizon. But I think the printer runs at something crazy like 230 degrees C. so outright heat killing the plastic is unlikely. I have yet to have that happen on any of my projects. If the PLA is getting tortured, so is all the other plastic in the...
