Bingo. It's called subrogation. If your company that has a policy that uses OEM for a certain time period, go through them, pay your deductible, if any, and let them fight it out. You'll get your deductible back. But suing the owner will do no good if they have insurance. I'm sure the policy...

Check the manual, but I think if you lower the passenger side a bit with the passenger side switch, then raise it back up and hold for like 10 seconds, it resets. Some kind of anti theft safety thing that they put in. See if that works.
