Cut my losses, or forge on...??

This last sentence. Make sure its not just the valve covers leaking in the back before trying to replace the rear main seal. I almost made the same mistake.

    New Gear Install Issue

Totally normal for it to be a tight fit! You have two choices: 1). Try putting it in again as is, like others have mentioned, turning the ring gear by twisting the pinion flange can help "walk it in" 2). Grind a little off your axle housing with an angle grinder. Do a proper clean up and drop...

How long is too long? Head gasket

Could also be leaking valve guide, stuck valve, leaking piston o-ring, faulty injector, spark or coil.. Have you done a compression test?

What do I need to swap 01-02 taillights onto my 00?

You don't need to pull the harness.... Didn't know people were actually doing that. Everything is plug and play besides the reverse light bulb (the bulb size is a little bigger/smaller). All you need to do with the reverse light is splice the two wires. It takes 1 minute.

What brake pads are you running

I'm sure OEM's are great. I went another route though and bought these on amazon. $32 shipped. Comes with built in shims, and all the pins and clips. They don't make any noise and brake much better than my old pads so I'm happy...

Removing locking lug from wheels without key.

Yes that's the best tool you can use. Place it over the wheel lock, then hammer it on hard, then you should be able to break it free. Using an impact gun helps.

    Locker opinions wanted

I'm with you the e-locker is known to be very reliable. For a 3rd gen 4runner they are perfect (I run one on my rear axle, and an ARB on the front). Physically the ARB can handle more abuse than an e-locker. But both are solid options. IMO: Daily/camping rig = e-locker or ARB Heavy...

Now I'm curious, leaking from where?

    Locker opinions wanted

From my experience ARB lockers are very reliable. 99% of the time if I see anyone having issues with an ARB, its due to poor installation, which has been very rare for me. Unless its a factory equipped Rubicon edition Jeep. Its not a real ARB those come with stock, same way they don't come...

    Newer 4Runner/Taco

Even sporty cars are phasing out manuals... All 2019 Model Audi's will be auto, and even the new generation BMW 3 series will only come in auto as well.

    Toytec/Eibach Complete Front Coilovers - 3" Lift

I just bought those because my toytec boss coilovers were leaking after ~40K. Ride is softer, I like it. I had to take the top spacer off the passenger side to level the lift out. Hope they hold up better than the boss coilovers.

    differential drop

Leave them, and place the spacers on top. But that wont fix your 60mph shimmy you feel. Those are more likely due to your wheel/tires not balanced correctly. Or alignment/worn out bushings. I'd start with a rotation/rebalance of your tires.

Alignment Question - rear spring change

I wouldn't worry about a 1inch change in the rear impacting your front end alignment.
