TRD Pro Review by Car Care Nut

I've seen this review before. This guy is great. He does a good review under the truck talking about what he likes and doesn't like. He's overall very impressed with this and loves how it looks overall. Then toward the end he gives a different opinion (I don't want to spoil it). His summary...

Gen 6 rear seat fold, dealbreaker?

New ORP hybrid owner. The cargo area situation is terrible, especially with the hybrid battery. It's hard to imagine that they could not do a better job with this. It feels worse because I'm coming from a Land Rover that has a perfectly flat cargo area over 6' long.

Test drove a 2025 Platinum - better to get an LC?

Thanks for the feedback. This does not sound good. I test drove a Honda Passport Trailsport. V6 non-turbo engine (285 HP and 262 lb-ft torque). About the same as the 4Runner for acceleration by the ending does not seem to be straining all the the time. The interior is ok, but better than the...

    Mall parking lot driving.

Test drove a 2025 Platinum - better to get an LC?

Looking for a new SUV. Likely a 4Runner. It's not clear where the line is between 4Runner and LC. We previously had 5th gen 4Runner. Styling outside seems fine. Inside seems a little silly with the big, knurled knobs and other styling. It seems to be trying too hard. I can overlook the...

    6th Gen or Lexus GX550?

Not sure. Saw 4Runner, LC, and GX550 at a car show. My wife really did not like the 4Runner front seats. She thought the LC and GX seats were better. I'm trying to compare the numbers. The GX550 is over what we want to pay for a car, but I do like the idea of a 6 cylinder engine. The lower end...

Does anyone get extended warranty ever?

When I looked ~3 years ago there was a dealer selling these at a discount. You don't have to buy the warranty from the same dealer from whom you bought the car. If I recall it was ~$1K less expensive. I didn't get one, but that certainly made it more compelling.

FS: Trail wheel with Nokian snow tires

[SOLD] FS: Trail wheels with Nokian snow tires (set of 4) Asking $1150. These are almost certainly too large and heavy to ship. Sale needs to be close to Portland, OR. I have four 4Runner Trail wheels with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV tires on them. You can see details for these tires here...

I'm starting to really not like my '14...

Nav System - it seems to be about the same as most other car nav systems. I think they all suck. Every phone I've owned in the last 6 years has better nav. Car manufactures need to allow us use the car screen as a display for our phones. I'm looking at doing this now. Not as easy as it sounds...

Let's see those black 5th Gens!

Agree with your wife. Hard to off-road and not get some scratches on the sides. Heavy off-roaders will get a lot more than scratches. Those will impact your resale value. But that's the cost of off-roading. You could always get it painted before you sell or trade it. Unfortunately our Limited...

2013 GX460 Showed up in my driveway

The GX says Lexus on it. This is a great idea, imo. I could not find one that was reasonable before buying our 4Runner. If you can be patient for one this is a great way to for exactly the reasons you gave.

Has anyone gone from Land Rover to 4Runner?

Yep. A 4Runner isn't going to get close off road. But for a daily driver a defender would get old, I think. I would not mind having one or a Series LR. It could. I don't know why you wouldn't want KDSS if you can get it, especially if you plan to off road. Without it you're going to have to...

Has anyone gone from Land Rover to 4Runner?

That's the key point. Rovers depreciate off a cliff after a few years. You have to know what you're getting into and what issues to expect. More importantly, what issues have already been fixed. Having access to a good Rover-specific mechanic is key also.

Has anyone gone from Land Rover to 4Runner?

Have to say it kind of depends on the car, what's been done, and if you're willin to do some repairs yourself. If you get a Disco that recently had head gaskets done you're likely in pretty good shape, considering they cost nothing. An LR3 with all the big known issues already fixed likely gets...
