    SRS warning light

Just went through this a couple of months ago... The DTC (data trouble codes) activated through the diagnostic port jumper worked. It did do a good job of pointing to the problem area (passenger side seat belt). Everything in SRS that can cause an inadvertent actuation is color coded yellow...

    Flashing air bag light

Mine was the same exact code (64). After disconnecting the battery I removed the trim to get to the Passenger side seat belt squib connection located at the bottom rear floorboard. Pulled the connector and after using a toothpick to lift the shorting bar on the seat belt asssembly itself...

    Flashing air bag light

I just went though this a couple of months ago on my 2000. There is a data test port in the engine compartment right near the top of the intake manifold (about a 1X2" black box. It has a removable cover. In the service manual under the supplemental restraint system it will show you where to...

Noob to AC work needs help

Most replacement compressors have an oil recharge in them so that you don't have to check or add oil to them but it just depends on the supplier. Oil is normally distributed witihin the system (carried along by the refrigerant) so the total amount of oil is more than just in the compressor...

Noob to AC work needs help

I have worked on numerous cars with A/C. It is not that uncommon for systems that have been pulled all of the way down and completely evacuated to need some help by jumpering the compressor to initially pull some refrigerant in to overcome the low pressure cutout switch (that protects the...

    Don't Distilled Water for Radiators?

Using DI / Demin water in radiator I am a Chemical Engineer in the power plant business however I don't know that it qualifies me to be an expert on this subject.... however I will weigh in. Tap water can have a whole host of additional contaminants that can react with the heat to form...

Aux Audio Input with Stock Radio

I used to have a 2007 Avalon. It has a large double DIN screen that controlled the radio as well as HVAC, etc, The obvious solution would have been to just buy an aftrmarket radio but there was no way to recover the HCAV. Not an optimum design. I found a company called GROM Audio in Los...

TBU 231mm vs. 199mm Pad Size

I did the 199mm (13WE) swap because I found information threads on this website that the 231's would not fit with the specific existing stock wheels. It wasn't a reluctance to cut the dust shield. Was having to replace existing stock rotors anyway so when I found a pair of 13WE calipers on...

    Gear shift stuck in park

I have also had a similar issue with a faulty brake light switch on a 2007 Avalon. There is an electrical solenoid interlock which prevents it from coming out of park unless your foot is on the brake. It is a safety feature. I think this is the most common reason for your symptoms...

    Siezed Crank Pulley Bolt

I have had a couple of occasions in the past where I have a particularly stubborn crank bolt that no amount of impact seemed to budge. The impact wrench is very convenient. However when that fails, I have used a method I saw on a video several years ago. No expensive special tool holders...

02 Sport: Fixin to replace ABS/Master Cylinder Unit & need bleeding advice. Scantool?

Bleeding brakes normally is fighting gravity.... the bubbles want to float up...... Likewise some ABS units have high spots that tend to collect air when the system is breached and it is difficult to get the flow rates high enough during normal brake bleeding to move the air. Haven't tried this...
