So about 4 years later, my truck is now having the same 8-10 beeping sounds when trying to open the door. I notice it’s the driver’s door which does not open. I need to enter the other side and reach over and open the door.
So what was the fix ? Was it an actuator replacement ?
My area also has cats stolen nightly and as a lifted car parked outside nightly, I’m an easy target. Initially I wanted to get full skids and the addition for the cat shield. But full skins is not what I wanted atm.
I opted for the is cat shield. Works like a charm.

as long as you use the two bolt clips on the front bolts, you can sit on the ground and use your knees to support the skid plate to remove and install. Once the two front ones are hand turned, the rears can be installed easily
I also have similar clunk sounds. the other week I changed my oil and drove around without putting back my trd skid plate. I noticed the clunk was gone.
Seems like my clunk is coming from the rear trd skid plate bolts. These bolts are connected to the radiator supports. i haven’t isolated...
I believe all 4Runners are more then capable of off-roading equally to an extent. But the low hanging limited bumpers give it less clearance. Most find the limited bumpers just plain ugly as I do.
I have a limited and I planned on changing the bumpers long before I even purchased one...
I recommend an AGM battery. Less maintenance and more cca. I got the interstate battery from Costco. But it’s hit or miss if it’s in stock. Just get it from interstate.
