Honestly I didn't do it, my dad did and I'll have to ask him about the clips.

I have a 97 Toyota 4runner 4wd. Bought it about 3 months ago in essentially perfect condition besides the rotors being bad. A week ago I replaced the rotors and pads, and now the last couple days when I hit the brake I hear a metal clanking noise. Its hard to describe but it sounds like a hammer...
