Wierd new oil leak -- anyone recognize?

That side gets a little oil on my 2004 Sport V8 when I remove the oil filter. Could be your front diff. Maybe clean it really well, drive a bit and see if you can tell where it is coming from. Derek V

    Center Diff Lock Light

Correct, it is engaging. I can hear it engage and turns at low speed, I can feel that it is engaged. I have got the lock light to stop blinking by getting it into 4 Low, but that rarely works. So the limit switch that indicates it is locked must not be working. I did remove and clean the...

    Center Diff Lock Light

I do exercise it regularly and the actuator works. But the lock light never stops flashing. Eventually it unlocks and stops. So the sensor that tells the system it is locked isn’t working. Where is the sensor/switch? Derek V

    Center Diff Lock Light

2004 V8 4Runner. Center Diff/transfer case is locking, but the lock light on the dash just flashes. It worked before, just recently stopped working. Is the switch internal to the actuator motor housing? 2 years go I pulled the diff/transfer case and replaced actuator seals. No more leaks...

    P0171 - What else can I check??

Check the connection between the exhaust manifold and the Y pipe on the side with the issue. There is a gasket in that connection. It is just down stream of the cat. If there is a leak there, down stream of the first O2 sensor and up stream of the second O2 sensor, you get the lean code...

    Broken Axle advice

“ 35mm is right, but i'd never personally bother taking out a CV unless it fails or the boot is torn. There's no value there IMO.‘ Judgement call. I figure they have both been through the same miles and one failed, the other probably isn’t too far out. 2 trips to the axel shop instead of 4 one...

Transfer Case Actuator Leak - Fix OPTIONS & Thoughts

Short answer is yes, it is in use all the time. Without lubrication, the transfer case will eventually over heat and fail. The transmission sends power to the transfer case and the transfer case sends power to the rear wheels and maybe the front wheels depending on if you have the V6 or V8 and...

Transfer Case Actuator Leak - Fix OPTIONS & Thoughts

If your transfer case doesn’t have enough gear oil, it will be damaged or destroyed. Moving parts need lubrication. You could top off the fluid. That would also tell you how bad the leak is. But don’t ignore the issue. For the V8; Transfer Case: 75W-90 (1.5 quarts/1.4 liters). That isn’t...
