Can't Sell It... what should I do?

Thank you all for your input. Most of you have constructive input, and I appreciate it. I am not looking to get rich. Just want to get rid of it. I might just take it to a dealership and get $2000 out of it (like Carmax offered) just to get it out of my driveway.

Can't Sell It... what should I do?

Thank you for your input. My wife has a taller torso so her head it in the sunroof if she leans on the center console. It's an issue with most vehicles we've tried.

Can't Sell It... what should I do?

Thank you for the feedback. It's been posted on Facebook Marketplace for my community, and the local Utah 4Runners group. I've taken detailed pictures of the inside and out, undercarriage, engine compartment, interior. It has ZERO rust, and should be a great vehicle for someone who wants it...

Can't Sell It... what should I do?

So I bought my 1999 4Runner Limited in April of 2020 in rough condition. I had plans to restore it, do an engine rebuild, etc. The previous owner(s) were rough on it, and it needs a handful of things (full fluid changes, valve cover gaskets replaced, timing belt, radiator flush, front seats...

Is this guy on crack or.....

I couldn't sell my '99 Limited for my lower asking price of $4500. So as a joke I listed it for $2,000 to see if I'd get any bites. Got a TON of "interested" people. All 24 people who came all said.... "I wish it was in better condition. The paint looks sand blasted, and even though it...

How much did you pay for your 3rd gen?

$1,500 for a '99 Limited no rear locker.

    UTAH: 1999 (3rd Gen) Toyota 4Runner Limited 4WD, $2500

I am selling my 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited. It's got the 3.4L V6, auto transmission, I've done a drain and fill on the front and rear differentials and automatic transmission. I put in a digital volt meter in the dash, and new rear shocks. The previous owner put in a new steering rack and...

Stripped Transmission Pan Bolt: Replace Pan or Tap?

I finally sourced a new plug from the dealer. Unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. So Looks like I might have to tap the hole and go with a bigger plug. A new pan is $166 from the dealer, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of aftermarket engine/transmission support for these...

    Long bed 4runner

The sheer idea of this makes zero sense unless you have the means to do so, and you just want something to do.

Stripped Transmission Pan Bolt: Replace Pan or Tap?

Thank you all for your response. The plug seems to be fine, but the threads in the pan seem to be off. Maybe I'll try a plug first, then the inserts. A new pan is $167 from the dealer-- plus I'd need a $25 gasket for the pan. A new plug is cheaper than the pan, so I'll start there.

Stripped Transmission Pan Bolt: Replace Pan or Tap?

So I decided to change my auto transmission fluid today--drain and fill only. No filter, drop the pan, etc. Upon putting the bolt back in, it never tightens. It turns, and will come back out again, but won't tighten. I'm guessing the last person to do the transmission flush overtightened the...

    Painted Valve covers?

I think painting them any color but black would be a great idea. My 4Runner has a bunch of gasket leaks, so having a red/blue/other color than black would be a good idea.

Simple Key fob question 2000 4Runner

Hey Russ. I believe you have to have an OEM Toyota key to get them to work. My Runner didn't come with an OEM remote, but I had to have an OEM key to program my remote on my Tundra. You might be able to find a lock smith that can help you save money and help you out.

    Where are all the rust-free 4wd 4runners?

I'd look at the dry states like Arizona, California, Rocky Mountain states. I think most 4 wheel drive vehicles in coastal states will have the most incidence of rust.

What is my 3rd gen worth?

I think it comes down to a few things. One, since you're in an upper midwest city, how much under body and fender well rust is there? Also 4Runners tend to hold their value better in mountain/desert states like the Rocky Mountains, or other areas that four wheeling is more widely done. I...
