    momo.75's '03 Sport 4.7L V8 Build

Would you happen to know or have pics of how the rear tires fit in the rear wheel well when the suspension is fully compressed? Contemplating moving up to a 285/75r17 tire like yourself. How is the acceleration with you V8? Any plans to regear?

    Dobinsons lift

My dobinsons twin tubes are almost as comfortable as stock. Be sure to get the extended travel version because if you lift it with taller springs, you will lose down travel, which will give you a harsher ride.

Time for new tires, again, help me decide

Definitely stick with KO2/KO3 in C load. I love my 285/70-17 KO2s in C load, and will most likely get the KO3s when the time comes. The only thing I don't like about the KO3s is that they are a little bit heavier than the KO2s.

5th gen CV axles in 4th gen V-8??

I rebuilt my CVs and used Dobinsons boots that are designed for lifted 4Runners. With your miles, rebooting them makes the most sense.

    Oil analysis help

I bought it without knowing what oil was used. I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Mobil 1 and both oils showed high wear metals. I started getting concerned thinking the previous owner neglected it. Then someone recommended Quaker State Full Synthetic. I was skeptical at first, but the results...

    Oil analysis help

My UOAs showed high wear metals with Mobil 1. I switched to Quaker State Full Synthetic 5w/30 and wear metals gradually decreased. As of the 3rd UOA with QS FS 5w/30, my wear metals are now lower than average. Toyota Oil Filter.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I know the ball joint on the UCA can be replaced, I'd imagine the bushings should be replaceable as well. Otherwise that would be kind of pointless. How many miles do you have on your Dobinsons parts?

Replacing support struts for hood & rear hatch

I buy most of my OEM parts from Partsouq, Amayama, and Megazip.net. You can get genuine OEM parts for a bit less than what the stealership will charge. I read lots of reviews on aftermarket hood struts and many people say they are hit or miss and need to be replaced within 3 years. For a bit...

Who is upgrading in 2025 and to what?

I did exactly that with mine and added a backup camera. Can't really think of any other bell or whistle I would need.

Who is upgrading in 2025 and to what?

With Toyota/Lexus switching to turbos engines, new transmissions, and all the problems coming from that, I think it is best to avoid these new generations and wait until the next new generation. By then, Toyota will have (hopefully) learned and worked out all the kinks of their turbo engines...

4th Gen Steering Rack- OEM vs OEM-Reman

I'm about 1 year in on my OEM Reman steering rack. So far no issues.

WTB: ARB or Shrockworks Bumper 4th Gen

Is there anyone thinking about selling their ARB or Shrockworks bumper? I'm from southern Nevada and willing to drive about 500 miles to your location. Interested in 06-09 ARB or 03-09 Shrockworks bumper only.

    WTF Toytec?! Suspension kit...

I too will chime in and vouch for the Dobinsons. Currently running their extended travel twin tube shocks/springs with their tubular UCAs, and they're like a beefed up version of OEM suspension. Almost as comfortable on the street as stock and better performance off road. Mike from Exit...

    Contemplating a full wrap

I got a good paint job for less than the price of a full wrap. I found an independent shop that had a kid who has been painting cars for 5 years and he showed his work on Instagram. I told him I wasn't expecting the world, but I want something better than Maaco. He delivered. Sanded everything...
