    Help! 4runner/Tundra Brake swap

I also used amazon and I am more than happy I did. Went with the Centric Calipers(no core), Bosch rotors and wagner thermo quiet pads for a total of around $250. Have had them for a few months and I drive mountain passes every week and no fade so far, extremely good stopping power and the rotors...

I have calipers w/good pads sitting in my house. They are from a 96 and work great. They may fit in a flat rate box. Interested?

    Transmission problems

Sounds like its just the factory control that keeps it from shifting into third until it hits a certain temperature or about 2500-3000rpm. I notice the same thing occur and its always exactly the same if I rev to 2500 it will shift into third and the moment the temp needle hits the first line at...

    Transmission problems

At what speed or gears does this occur? Will it shift into second? If reved to a certain rpm will it shift? About where on the temperature gauge does it get war enough to shift?

    Tundra 231mm brake upgrade

Something interesting I found was that most people say get calipers from a 2005 Tundra, but after looking at Autozone even the 2001 Calipers are offered with the same 231mm same part # and everything. Just thought that was interesting

2001 4runner, Lifted, TRD FJ wheels, Icon

I would be interested in the Tundra front lift parts. Hopefully the entire vehicle can just be sold though

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

I am pretty sure I saw the old engine on Craigslist when I was looking for superchargers. Glad to see this is coming along! Seems like a pretty good project and should run strong and reliable when done. Too bad on the headers, I actually saw that issue on another thread the other day. I had...

    Whining noise during acceleration

Sounds good let me know if you figure anything out. I will be interested to see if anything makes it go away or what you end up finding. Glad to hear its still working good even with the strange noise though.

    Hey from CO

Yea it's a tough call, I still think the 285 will look the best for sure but I really like how the 255's are for every day and maintaining good power and mpg. You could maybe split the difference and get a 285 all terrain instead of m/t.

    Whining noise during acceleration

Changing fluid did nothing for me either although adding some Lucas stop slip seemed to make the noise a little softer, but still there for sure. I really think this issue is transmission related and the torque converter most likely. If it doesn't seem to slip or act funny I wouldn't worry about...

    Colorado BS thread

Colorado T4R meetup this summer? Possibly Silverton/Ouray/Telluride for some trail riding? Also then fish0281 can bring me that yakima rack :biggrin2:

    Hey from CO

Welcome! Nice to see someone else using the 255/75/17 tires! I think the largest you can reliably use on the stock wheels would be a 285/70/17 which would be about a 33x11.5. With the v8 you could probably go that bigger size without a power problem. I went with the 255/75 because it was next to...

Shop won't align my runner...need parts

What about the rack did they say was bad? Maybe it just needs rack bushings? May as well do both the inner and outer tie rod ends. Sway bar bushings and end links? Have fun with those upper ball joints they are the worst or at least they were for me. Otherwise looks like you have a good list...
