    6th vs our 3rd Gen

Oh!well, I do like to think forward that I'll buy a 6th gen, but now I'm in love with the GX550, except the price, but oh lord, what a dream truck. Still not that much over the new landcruiser which I'd never buy. As for the OP, the 3rd gen is staying with us too. It is still driven over 300...

BACK ON THE ROAD! 271,000 mile rebuild.

congrats on the rebuild. You should surely keep it. This vehicle is so good when you get it into a trail because of its size and clearance. I get 23mpg on long road trips with my 4X4 V6 with 300 000+ miles on the original engine, but don't get your hopes up in the city with the 4 speeds or...

    Transmission Cooler 2024?

I installed a smaller, B&M 70255 in series. Very easy installation since it doesn't take a lot of room. Really helped with towing my 4500 lbs trailer in hilly terrains. Been 2 winters with loads of road salt, and the cooler is still in great shape.

    Having brake shaking

flex brake lines causing a caliper piston not to come back completely is possible. Can also lock up the caliper if it's really bad. It happened to one of my cars a few weeks ago, line was 9 years old OEM.

    What's This? (cooling system)

tried a generic one and it was bad quality/functionality. It also leaked after less than 2 years maybe one.

Overheating at idle with AC on.

if you can't hear your fan clutch woooooooof really hard when your engine is getting hot, you got your problem for sure. If after that your problem persists, might be the thermostat, often seen them not opening up enough so you get your situation. If you want to drive this one off a cliff...

    Voltage Booster 3rd Gen.

Also, once charged as far as I know AGM need a smaller float (under 14 volts), so boosting your voltage might in the end shorten the life of the battery if you're often in the float stage (I am no expert). What I mean is that there is a chance that you will have a longer battery life even if...

About to order parts to do valve cover gaskets, are OEM parts necessary?

well if you go to the part counter, you'll get toyota OEM. You are overthinking this. You might get a aisin part for example, but that is still what toyota intended to use

3.4 Low Power Until Beating the Hell out of It?

I experienced a lack of power until I got open loop which is pretty much beating on it. Replaced the front o2 sensor and it fixed it. Accelerating in closed loop was a real slob.

Bizarre experience with subwoofer install - corrected, but with a question

Really sounds like a bad ground. Check all ground connections including the battery pole and battery ground.

    RockAuto return/exchange treatment

I had to return two times and I actually like that you don't have to wait on the phone to get the return shipping label. I didn't have any problem both times but I made sure the reason for return was super clear in the description.
