1999 Mileage My 1999 SR5 4WD has 197,000. In February I will be visiting the local mountains with my son (2022 4Runner TRD PRO) , so I’ll be watching closely to see when I hit 200,000.

After my son’s dog chewed the cargo area carpet in my ‘99, I ordered a used replacement carpet and installed it. Really easy. BUT, before reinstalling, I bought some Home Depot insulation/sound proofing padding and placed that over existing padding. What a difference! Much quieter. No noise...

After hearing the sound of my brake wear sensors screeching, I got my brakes done on all 4 wheels: new pads and had rotors turned and drums turned all for $389. Wow, drives like new. Dealer wanted $350 only to do rear drum brakes.

Looks very nice! On a different subject I took s nice road trip this Memorial Day weekend and used some Gumout gas treatment/injector cleaner and actually achieved just over 21 mpg.

For $225 buy a new axle which comes with a new boot. That way, after busting your butt to just replace the boot, you can install a whole new assembly and be done with it.

I'm still learning bout my 4Runner...why do a manual hub conversion? My '99 auto 4WD, my son's '92 5spd 4WD and my previous '90 5sp 4WD all do not have manual hubs. What's the advantage of having manual hubs?

I installed an OEM CD player to match my OEM radio. I just wanted all of the open dash space filled as it would be as if new. I don't use CD's often but my wife listens to Books On CD's when she drives the Runner.

Just after I bought my '99 I had my mechanic do a complete check-over and he found rear cam seals leaking (had him replace) as well as valve cover gaskets leaking (replaced those too). Now no spots of oil in driveway. And since one of my ball joints were bad after I purchased I bought all 4...

Excellent!! That's how I felt when I located my SR5 after searching many months. Two things I found out: A seller's idea of "excellent condition" is 180 degrees different from mine; Here in the Los Angeles area, it seems like every used car lot scours the supply of 4Runners in good condition...

Ahhh...I found it. Thanks!! I probably would have never found it, and it's spotlessly clean inside so I think the previous owners never found it either.

My '99 SR5 does not have any coin storage provisions in the console:( maybe the Limited had it?
