    Really, really weird misfire problem

I'm impatient so I dug through importman's thread quotes and found that his issue was a bad spark plug, see post #4 here: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/298078-having-misfire-codes-p0300-p0302-p0303.html#post3646333

Valve Cover Bolts Snapped....What To Do

I agree with Mike that welding would be a good way to go and it is a good excuse to buy a welder. With that much of the bolt sticking out, have you thought about trying a pipe wrench with a pivoting head/jaw? I have a really old one kind of like this that I used to get some stuck thermostat...

Fuel tank and protector removal - Please step in...

Nice, definitely let us know how it goes. I can't remember how I found that one. I went back to find it for my reply and I had to look in the fuel system tools section. Most of the kit doesn't apply to Toyotas, but the retainer ring tool looks to be universal.

Fuel tank and protector removal - Please step in...

Would this loaner kit from Autozone work like the Toyota SST? It looks like the one in the FSM. I am planning on pulling my tank soon and was going to try this kit out to get the retainer ring off...

4th Gen Head gasket Part Numbers

Replacing the head gaskets is a big job that requires replacing a lot more gaskets and seals than just the head gaskets. I would really urge you to verify that the head gasket is leaking before you take this on, either by using a borescope to look for coolant in cylinder 6 or any of the other...

    Maf sensor

My local Toyota dealer has the MAF for $110, part number 22204-75020. If you're paying $350 for labor to replace the MAF, you're getting ripped off. Assuming they diagnosed it correctly as a MAF sensor issue, you could try cleaning it first. Toyota 4Runner MAF mass air flow sensor cleaning -...

Do anti rattle clips fall out on their own?

I was having some brake grinding noise recently and took off one front wheel to inspect the pads and the anti rattle clip was missing. I'm the last one that touched the brakes and I know I installed (correctly I think). Not sure what happened to it, maybe they become brittle over time and break...

3D printable fix for rear cup holder

Any chance you sell these? Mine broke as well and I'm considering replacing the whole tray, but I would buy this from you if you have any more.

V6 engine replacement vs head gasket repair ???

I think I asked my local dealership about 1 and 2 and they told me to just use 00295-00103 for everything. I do remember that I only used that for the whole timing cover and the water pump parts, but you should probably ask your dealership if no one on here can confirm. I used blue Loctite for...

    Fuel pump

Do you have any advice for taking the assembly apart to put in the new filters, fuel pump, and level sending unit? I've seen a lot of videos and writeups for how to get to the fuel pump assembly, but not much about how to take it apart after that. I don't see anything about it in the FSM either.

V6 engine replacement vs head gasket repair ???

I forgot to add, be carefull installing those water pipe orings. They have to stretch a bit to go over the pipe. I would lube them up with soapy water or grease so they don't tear.

V6 engine replacement vs head gasket repair ???

#1 looks like the throttle body gasket (where the throttle body mounts up to the intake manifold. I just replaced mine a few months ago after cleaning the TB. #4 I think gaber6 is right. I remember it being on the front of the engine and thermostat sounds right. #7 Yes that's for your oil pan...

*Please Help* Holes in frame rail - pics included

I saw a post on one of the 4th Gen 4Runner Facebook groups this morning where a guy had pictures trying to look into some of the holes in the frame that are supposed to be there. You could see a "double wall" where it almost looked like two layers of steel. Someone in the comments said this is...

V6 engine replacement vs head gasket repair ???

I agree with phatcheeks on the head bolt tool. I talked to zguy1 in a message, but wanted to add it here. I used the CTA tool when I did it and it was a huge PITA and I ended up stripping a head bolt when I was taking the heads off. It will work, but you really have to wiggle it around to get it...

V6 engine replacement vs head gasket repair ???

My intake looked like that with 189k miles on it too. I didn't take the time to degrease it, but I should have. There's videos on Youtube for how to clean it and which degreasers work best.
