    FJ Summit in Ouray, CO

I happened to be passing through Ouray, CO last week during the FJ Summit. Do the 4Runners have a similar outing? The several hundred FJ guys and families that attended looked to be having a blast. I did my best to keep up in a P.O.S GMC Terrain rental...:)

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

Besides the ~ 46% and 20% bump in HP and torque, respectivly, you should see a sizable bump in MPG, too. IMHO, 20-25%. Technology is good. Regarding the 210 lbs (sorry, thought it was 215), that is 4.9% increase in vehicle curb weight. Nothing to sneeze at. Assuming a conservative weight...

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

Lets cross our fingers that Toyota has plans to put that new 4.6L dual VVT-i in the 4Runner someday. Although it was developed for the 2007 Lexus LS 460, 380hp and 367 lb-ft would be nice! :D I also heard that it is a lighter V8, too (not today's 215 lb premium over the V6).

Automatic HVAC controls - how to disable or reprogram??

Who has it down is Audi. The climate control on the S4 practically anticipates your thermal needs.

And just what exactly is your reason for the constant barrage of accusations? You know nothing about me. But this is fun. Tell us something else that we don't know.

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

Sorry, but I know quite much about it. To break it down to a level that perhaps you can understand, the amount a car understeers can be measured in the number of degrees more the steering wheel have to be turned per G of lateral acceleration. The higher the number the more the car understeers...

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

LOL. I am not talking about skidding where the stability control kicks in. During routine hard and aggressive driving (lots of twisty 2-lane roads in my area) you have varying degrees of over steer, neutral, and under steer all the time. Nearly every production vehicle is setup with under...

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

Just to clarify my points, yes, there is no question the V8 has tons more low end torque. It was just that for my driving style, the V8 simply felt to heavy in the front. It felt and drove like a truck and I was not looking for a truck. Where the V6 in the Sport (that comes with the hydraulic...

    sales of V8 4Runners dropping?

Test drive them both..... Not to start a flame war, but I picked the V6 over the V8 because I saw no real benefit for the V8. The V6 drove more light and nimble and at ~ 240hp, it was light years more powerful than my 190hp 96' Isuzu Trooper. Plus the V8 was an extra ~$1300, requires extra...

Automatic HVAC controls - how to disable or reprogram??

Almost forgot another grip with the controls, and this one is bigger than my morning ritual of several steps necessary to get to obtain unheated

Automatic HVAC controls - how to disable or reprogram??

It must be something different with the 04' to 06' model year or related to the sunroof option as stated earlier. I don't have a sunroof (or wanted one when 6'-4" and 210. Not much room in this truck as it is.....). I tried it again driving into work this morning. "Auto" light is off. As...

Automatic HVAC controls - how to disable or reprogram??

Good feedback, guys, but no luck on disabling the auto?? BTW - the only way to turn off "auto" is to select a manual fan setting. Hitting "auto" does nothing to turn it off. To be more specific on the desire of my request, all I want is have your typical "vent" for these nice fall mornings...

Automatic HVAC controls - how to disable or reprogram??

I have a 2006 Sport and would like to disable the "automatic" features of the HVAC system. I do not like how it automatically turns on the "recycled air" function when you lower the temp. Also I prefer the vents blow at your feet when using heat, but many times it overrides the vent selection...
