Southern Style Offroad Full Length Roof Rack

I love this rack...I just wish it didn't rest on the roof at the faring. Don't some people with Gobis have issues with paint being worn off by the same thing? Worries me for the sake of rust.

Something new coming for Black Friday

Does the front wind faring rest on the roof? It appears so from the pictures on the website, but I can’t tell with certainty.

    Pulsating issue

Update: almost one year and 8k miles later, and the coldest winter in decades in my hometown, and the problem hasn’t returned. Super happy so far and can’t recommend it enough.

    2016 TEP with hummingbird noise

Pretty typical for this problem. The reason is the issue is not actually the needle bearing they replace; the needle bearing is just a symptom. The real problem is the carrier the needle bearing sits within. It is loose and allows the driver’s side CV shaft to exert load on the needle bearing...

ICON Alloys REBOUND Wheels - Well Suited for Off-Road

Dear lord, stop it with the damn fake beadlocks. Yet another wasted Icon wheel that could have been great but ended up a tacky, ugly mess that looks like every other aftermarket trash wheel out there. Ugh.

    New CBI front bumper

Finally a bumper that uses the gills as a design feature! Hopefully it comes in aluminum too.

I keep reading that this engine knock is "normal," but really?

I'd also take the comment from the owner about piston slap in that one video with a grain of salt. Even if that's what his source says, I've read and heard Toyota reps of all flavors say 100% objectively wrong stuff, either talking out their asses or saying whatever the customer wants to hear to...

I keep reading that this engine knock is "normal," but really?

Mine, two loaners, and a truck on the lot at my dealer all make the same exact noise(s), including the ones in your new videos. It's just a noisy engine.

I keep reading that this engine knock is "normal," but really?

Yeah, it's not a slap, knock, or detonation issue in the cylinders or with the pistons. It's been narrowed to a few sources on Tacomaworld, likely some type of air valve on the left side of the engine, I believe. You're good. It's just a noisy beast.

? The age of the truck doesn't matter. It's a characteristic of the engine. I may have misinterpreted your comment, though.

I keep reading that this engine knock is "normal," but really?

Absolutely, 100% completely normal. It will be louder on a cold engine (just started) than a warmed-up engine. It will be louder on cold days than on warm days. It sometimes isn't there on a brand spanking new 4Runner, but will either inevitably show up or you just weren't noticing it. These...

    Pulsating issue

I talked to my dealer about that and they wished they could help me, but said that if they get caught doing "warranty" work but using aftermarket parts, they'd get dinged by Toyota, which I understand. I've read about other people getting the bushing installed via warranty, but I think that's as...

    Pulsating issue

Update on my end. Discussed the issue with my dealer and did some extensive reading on the huge Tacomaworld threads; came to the conclusion that the ECGS bushing was indeed the right solution for me despite my previous thoughts. The problem even if addressed with a new diff often seems to come...

    Pulsating issue

Well, the TSB is already out (needle bearing replacement is their solution), but even if there's another one specific to 2016s/17s and something in excess of that, I don't trust Toyota as much as you do. :p Took them over a decade to issue the current TSB and admit there was a problem. If...
