I love this rack...I just wish it didn't rest on the roof at the faring. Don't some people with Gobis have issues with paint being worn off by the same thing? Worries me for the sake of rust.

Does the front wind faring rest on the roof? It appears so from the pictures on the website, but I can’t tell with certainty.

Update: almost one year and 8k miles later, and the coldest winter in decades in my hometown, and the problem hasn’t returned. Super happy so far and can’t recommend it enough.

Pretty typical for this problem. The reason is the issue is not actually the needle bearing they replace; the needle bearing is just a symptom. The real problem is the carrier the needle bearing sits within. It is loose and allows the driver’s side CV shaft to exert load on the needle bearing...

Yeah, it's not a slap, knock, or detonation issue in the cylinders or with the pistons. It's been narrowed to a few sources on Tacomaworld, likely some type of air valve on the left side of the engine, I believe. You're good. It's just a noisy beast.
