This is a rebuildable 4.56 rear differential with the ABS sensor hole. came from a 94 runner with 200k Needs new gears and general rebuild. pinion had too much slop and was hitting ring gear. will cost a good $55 to ship due to wieght. Make offer. 303-349-9913

So the code on the door reads G254 so that means 4.556 4 pinion open diff I don't see any paint on the yoke to double check that. I've found one for sale but the guy is saying it is a 456 ratio. Is he just rounding the 4.556 up?

well i went out today and took a much closer look inside the differential. It looks like i just need to swap it out. So now i just need to make sure i get the same thing to put in there. So i'm off to research differentials and gearing etc.

well i got it ripped apart today.....WOW it is crazy in there! Here is what is happening. The drive pinion is moving to far aft and is coming in contact with part of the ring gear. There are a few scars in the smooth area of the ring gear but no damage to the gear itself. So my question...

this was just to tow it home. I tried to pick it up on a tow dolly but with the rear tires locking up i was unable to do so.
