I usually go about 7k miles on every oil change with both my 4Runner and my wife's RAV4. Anywhere from 5-10k is safe if using full synthetic (which you always should). I'm dumb though and pay for expensive oil (Liqui-Moly)
If you're going to do this, you will need to start from scratch, maybe with a Scosche or Metra faceplate. I've taken apart a stock Nav radio. Everything is connected and controlled through one large circuit board that runs the entire length. I guess you may be able to get some buttons to work...
So the filter wrench helps you get your filter housing on and off. The metal housing is just an upgrade to the plastic one. The filter drain is a replacement for using the little plastic one that comes with every filter. Just makes it a cleaner change.
