    Tire Balancing...MUST READ!

Do you know if any other machines are capable of balancing properly, or is it only the GSP9700 that can do it right? None of my local shops carry that machine, but some say they can do road force balancing. Not sure if I should shell out the $50-100 they're asking for that type of balance if...

Wheel Balance Shop in San Diego??

Hey guys, I'm new here and don't know if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know of a wheel balance shop in San Diego that can balance using the Haweka Flange plate adapter & GSP9700 balancing system? I've noticed quite a few members from San Diego and figured it was worth...

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it. Going to tighten as best I can, clean up around the v/c's, fill her up with some fresh oil and see if the leak slows/stops.

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Is it necessary to drain the oil prior to doing this repair? Also, is it possible to tighten all of the v/c bolts without having to take apart all the stuff above it?

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Found the bolts and gently tightened the ones I was able to access without having to take things apart. Was shocked to see how loose they've gotten and am hoping that is the underlying issue. I am a bit nervous as I only have 400 miles on the new oil I recently changed and am just under the min...

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Does anyone know of a good step by step guide with pics or video to replacing the v/c gaskets (something easy enough for a child to understand)? And a list of tools required? I've found lots of scattered info on the forums, but nothing from start to finish with all the required steps. Trying...

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Wow this thread got off topic real quick, thanks for bringing it back and helping me with my actual questions. Those pics are a big help, thank you for that. And yes, the leak looks to be coming from above the head gasket.

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Thanks for the info, do you have a pic of where the v/c & head gaskets are located?

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

Also, here are a couple more pics from what appears to be the source of the leak. These pics were taken on the drivers side underneath the drain pan (looks like the side of the engine). I'm wondering if these are the valve covers?

How to diagnose a leaking gasket?

I have a 2000 4runner Ltd 3.4L and changed my oil about 3 weeks ago. I smelled burning oil and check my oil level, which was below the min level. Took a look at the filter and drain plug, as I have had leaks there before, but didn't appear that the leak was coming from there. I look higher up...

What Happened to Tacoma Whip Antenna Mod Write Up

Right on, thanks. Looking at prices online for the 2 parts, is $62 too much for the antenna assembly? I know prices have probably gone up since the original write up, but almost double seems like a lot

What Happened to Tacoma Whip Antenna Mod Write Up

In the write up of this installation, is that a 3rd gen 4runner? If not, does anyone know if it would be the same to do on a 3rd gen? The antenna motor just took a sh-t in my 2000 runner & I would like to do this

    Tire Balancing...MUST READ!

I asked HG and they said they do "Road Force Balancing" but don't have the Haweka plate or GSP9700 machine. I also heard from another shop that they use a fixed finger plate that's identical to the Haweka one. They also said they use a "Coats" machine that (according to him) is a more reliable...

    Tire Balancing...MUST READ!

The GSP9700 locator on its website seems to be outdated/inaccurate. I contacted multiple shops that it listed as having the machine and they told me they did not have it. Still waiting to hear back from a Discount Tire store, think someone mentioned all their locations now have them. Anyone...

Rear shock bolts are a M*@#%#^%$#ker

Nevermind, I figured it out. This thread is not clear on where exactly you need to cut. I first cut right under the lower bushing/washer underneath the mount. That was too low. I then cut right thru the bushing/shaft under the mount and it came right off. It's a bit smokey with sawing the...
