Finished alternator swap on 2006 V6 Thanks Kmvreter for the write-up, and everyone else for the tips! Finished replacing the original alternator on my 2006 V6 with 104k miles. Also replaced the original serpentine belt as well. Surprised both lasted this long. I started replacing the...

    My Backup Camera install

Backup camera - rear window cutting wires Finished my backup camera install this past weekend. Zip tie your camera wires to the existing wire harness. Do not have any slack dangling in the hatch cavity. If the camera wires are snug against the existing harness, they won't get caught on the...

    Backup Camera recommendation?

Does the trailer harness have a reverse wire? Might be easier to splice into than the reverse light, which doesn't have a lot of slack.

Bummer, I guess that explains the 3.5 star rating. A reviewer said he got one that didn't work, but customer service sent a replacement for free and had no issues with second unit.

The USB outlet connector has a little too much wiggle room. It's never lost connection on it's own, so the problem is very minor. It only loses connection if I use my hand to bump or tap the cable plugged into the outlet (i.e., when I go to open my center console).

T4R has two antenna systems. I just plugged the one regular connector that fits the HU. Reception not as clean as before, but good enough for the rare occasion I use it. Search on this forum and you'll find a long discussion about combining the two antennas. People seem to have mixed results. I...

On my Kenwood ddx6705s, I just grounded the brake sensor by connecting it to the metal chassis of the HU. Try that before buying a bypass relay. I ran my USB to a blank behind the gearshift. See my post on this thread #611: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3257413-post611.html

Dual USB outlet was super easy to install since I already had the dash / center console opened for the HU installation. The audio outlet has a USB plug on the back, which connects to back of HU with a USB extension cable. The charge outlet has two wires on back, which I tapped into the nearby...

Kenwood DDX6705S Installed Kenwood DDX6705S with Metra 95-8202 dash kit, and Metra 70-1761 wiring harness. Amazing fit, looks nearly stock. Most people put the MIC on top of the driver side A-pillar, but I decided to put it by the HU where it will get better reception from all passengers...

Aux input is in center console My 06 SR5 has the basic CD radio. No tape deck, no JBL, no steering wheel controls. The aux input / headphone jack is in the center console. Lift up the armrest, and the jack is on the interior front side of the console, below the coin holder. You need to flip...

Rear wiper cycles one time when vehicle is started????

Panasonic battery from 2006 finally gave up I started getting the single rear wiper cycle intermittently around Nov 2018. Then, Jan 2019 the auto-down on my driver side front door stopped working. I saw this thread and checked my battery (original factory Panasonic from 2006). Battery showed...

JBL vs non-JBL Ahhh, now I get it. I totally thought that strip was part of the trim kit. Thanks for sharing your knowledge / experience! For other folks looking into this, here are two pics with the JBL vs non-JBL difference highlighted. First pic is MrEMan's pic w/ the extra piece of...
