    daytime running lights

First things first, I got an automatic transmission Secondly, mine's a 1997 Thirdly, mine's a Canadian truck I dont know if any of these are factors, and you might all of have different setups than mine. Basically, between the battery and driver's side fender, there was a little 3" x 3"...

    daytime running lights

I just unplugged the DRL module under the hood. Took like 5 seconds, and to get them back, I just plug it back in. Have fun with whatever the hell you guys are doing though!!!

    Anyone from GTA

I would be interested too, but that would be at least 2 tanks of gas that day, between getting there, the actual off-roading part, and the trip back! If you guys ever think of doing something a little more [western] then I'm down! I am surprised you can find trails in that urban storm of...

    alpine 9856??

Mine doesn't and it's a 9857. It's loaded to the tits, but that feature isn't available. It will tell me things like Happy New Year or Happy 4th of July (even though we dont celebrate that :), but I can't customize much else. If yours does that, it would say it in the manual.

    Thoughts on these?

Should look something like this. The wheels I used aren't exactly the OZ racing, I think they're Enkeis, but they're pretty close. I'm not sure if I do like them, but maybe in a shadow chrome they might do all right.

    Connecting Rod Failure

I agree with what marshall is saying, that just cause you signed on the line, it doesn't meant that they're free to drag race your car! And besides, why the hell do they need to take a car out for a test drive after a routine maintenance?? I assume that this meant you were getting an oil change...

    alpine 9856??

I've got a 9857. I dont know the differences. I also dont have an IPOD, but from what I've read for mine, using one would be really easy. I love it for MP3 playback. It such a good deck. You can control the subwoofer separately, the sound is really clean, the scrolling through folders on MP3...

    any ideas for electrical problem?

Cathy, it sounds like the long drawn out battle is finally over (knock on wood) Congratulations. You've learned a ton about your truck, and you've found what sounds like a great shop for future problems, and best of all, you got to keep your 4runner!!! Wow, what an experience you've gone through...

What kind of supplies do you guys keep in the rig?

All you 'mericans with your guns, you're making me laugh. I wish you could do the same in my country, but honestly, I never have worried about crime THAT much. I'm not knocking you, I know that crime can be a problem down there. I hear the stories. But three clips??? WTF?? Hit the range if...

    any ideas for electrical problem?

It's really cool that you're so willing to repair this problem yourself. Many guys, older guys, would have given up a long time ago. Although your wiring has been altered to the point that even the service manuals have become redundant, you should still be able to fix that problem. Your...

    any ideas for electrical problem?

Get a new battery. I'm sure of it. The fact that it's getting worse has me 95% convinced. Dont give up just yet, cause if that's all it needs, you're SOOOO close. I know I've tried to boost vehicles before, and you sit there with it charging for what seems like forever, and the battery remains...

    any ideas for electrical problem?

I agree with what greasefingers and koz have said. Basically, they're telling you to find what the industry calls a "parasitic draw." According to my Toyota service manual, which refers to GM's research, most cars made after the early 80s should only have a maximum of 50 mA with every circuit...

    Deckplate mod

Jtwo: You've got the nicer setup with only one silencer box then. If it were me, I might do what you were thinking of earlier, if I understood you correctly. I would try to weld a bung onto the pipe (or two, depending on how many hoses are connected into your silencer currently), and thread a...

    Deckplate mod

That's funny about the service sucking at Home Depot. I had the manager of the plumbing department helping me out, as well as another guy. They wanted to see pictures. They even got to know my name. I work there. :D That might have had a bearing on the assistance I got. I basically got a...
