Here are a couple shots of my 265/75's. They're ElDorado ZTR Sports, which are built by Cooper and a clone of of the Discoverer ATR's. IMO, the 265's look puny with the lift I have! And my next set of tires: Maxxis Bighorn Radials; of course they'll be in the 287/75 R16 flavor...

Simply put, chips for a 3rd gen 4Runner are a waste of money. The ebay ones look like a good deal but basically give no performance gains. Jet chips will give you a little boost, but the price is too high to justify the 5hp gain.

The largest tire you can fit without a lift is: 265/75 16 which is a 32 10.50 16. Even with a lift, the 265/75's will be the largest because of a rubbing issue with the upper a arm. To clear larger tires (such as 285/75's), you'll need wheels with 4.5" of backspacing or more, or wheel spacers.

From what I've read, bracket lifts will not work on an IFS 3rd gen Runner, or would require a TON of custom fabrication. The max suspension lift you'll want is ~3" or so. The remaining can be accomplished with a body lift.

Looks like a nice rig...pretty rare color from what I've seen too. Don't worry about the mileage either. GET IT!:D

IIRC, the 3" pipe will be too big in diameter to fit into the stock tubing. Let us know which works best.

When I did mine many moons ago, I went to a local muffler shop. Get a piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing and have them expand the ends to 2.75". It works perfectly and is super cheap to do.

First, Tacoma and 4Runner suspension components are not compatible. Second, the IFS front suspension on 3rd gen 4Runners will not handle more than 2.5-3.5" of lift. Even at 3.5", you'll have very little suspension articulation. Think of it this way, the more suspension lift you have, the less...

I've seen people use POR products (Paint Over Rust) with good results. My dad and I used it on the frame of a 1951 Ford Pickup we're restoring and the end result was good! It's pretty messy to use, but should last forever. The price is pretty good too.
