2005 V8 cam seal part number?

Does anyone know what the part number is for the cam seals on a 2005 V8? McGeorge Toyota's site says 90311-A0004 fits 2004-2006 which doesn't make sense because I thought all 2004's were non-vvti with different seals? McGeorge also says 90311-71002 fits 2007-2009. But then a lot of...

Secondary Air Injection Pump Failure on V8's! Important!

I'd bypass it now before the valves get stuck in the open position. It's extremely easy to install if you don't need to install the plates. The kit is only like $50 so why not. I installed mine three years ago in about 10 minutes and I've been running perfect and passing smog inspections ever since.

Secondary Air Injection Pump Failure on V8's! Important!

6 hours?! I installed Slyfox's kit ($48 shipped) last Sunday night with a headlamp and a razor blade. It took about 10-15 minutes. All you do is remove a relay, install a wire, run the cable to the MAF sensor, cut one wire and splice in couple wires. You don't even need to solder anything. If...

Secondary Air Injection Pump Failure on V8's! Important!

The pump in my 05 4runner just failed yesterday at 128k miles. I'm going to go with slyfox's kit. Should I call Toyota to document it too or is that a waste of time?

How clean is "clean" for the water pump mating surface?

Will black RTV work as well?

How clean is "clean" for the water pump mating surface?

Thanks, I'll give this a shot. The new gasket I have is the same metal style as the AISIN one so I think it should work.

How clean is "clean" for the water pump mating surface?

I recently did a water pump/timing belt change on my 2uz-fe. To my horror, after starting it up and driving around I noticed I was losing a lot of coolant from what I suspect is the water pump gasket. Today, I tore it all down and I'm ready to install the new gasket but I want to be absolutely...

Today, I learned the hard way why it's bad to tighten a leaking drain bolt.

Yup, this one right here: http://www.amazon.com/Presa-31003-Torque-Wrench-8-Inch/dp/B00LPY2DLE. These should be reasonably accurate, right?

Today, I learned the hard way why it's bad to tighten a leaking drain bolt.

Yeah that's a good point. I think I'll just go by feel on the new one because I'll probably have a heart attack if I break it again lol. I'm trying to get into the habit of torquing to specs but this has me really nervous now.

Today, I learned the hard way why it's bad to tighten a leaking drain bolt.

I was filling my transmission earlier when I noticed I forgot to torque down the drain plug because it was covered in red fluid. I started torquing it down and right when i hit about 17ft lbs (torque spec is 21lbs on the A750E) I felt it strip out. Long story short and $75 later I have a new pan...

Forgot to install timing belt tensioner cover...

Yup, red loctite... and on the tensioner bolts too, unfortuntely. That's part of the reason I don't want to mess with it lol. I think im just going to put some rtv on the "grenade-pin" hole and call it a day. The timing covers should keep out the big stuff and the tensioners themelves seem to be...
