    So here's the deal

Well I am somewhat sad, but somewhat (really) excited at the same time. I have moved on from my 884Runner to a 07FJC :) Haven't sold the T4R yet though. Don't know if I can emotionally part with it

Shopping for a 2nd Gen 4Runner. What to look out for?

Out of curiosity, have you looked at it now? The V6 in the 2nd gen's had problems with head gaskets. If you can, find out from the owner if it has ever been replaced. I haven't had a problem in 290xxx KM with my V6 head gasket. *knocks on wood* I have no clue about the auto transmission...

    Camping in the 4Runner

It wasn't too cold surprisingly.....There was 2 of us plus 2 dogs in the fairly small tent so, that kept it decently warm..... I camped at the Wapati (don't know how to spell it....) campground. I didn't get to check out Magline Lake this time around, but I have been there before. Everywhere in...

    Built some boxes today...

Looks clean! Good job man. As you said, if you get some matching carpet on those, would look even slicker. Kudos!

    actual difference between 3.0 / 3.4 ?

I haven't driven the 3.4L before. However I can say that the 3.0L is fine. Just make sure you look and find out how well it was maintained. As I've said before, I have a 3.0 and still purrs like it should after 300xxx KM. No head gasket problems, no other major problems. I'm also a university...

    Oil Pan 1990... uh oh!!!!!

I don't know where people get all of these apparent problems with the 3.0's. We (myself as well as parents) haven't had ANY of those or any of the other "common" problems. The truck's been in the family since brand new in '88 and has >300000KM. Maintenance is key. Just my $.02 And back on topic...

Wont start - i screwed something up

Well, if it WAS the wires, I believe they are soldered onto a circuit board of some sort. If a wire has been torn off, it can be re-soldered. I'll let someone else come in and say if they think it is the same problem as I do.

Wont start - i screwed something up

I believe, that the part you pulled off is the wires that are soldered to the MAF. Or at least it's to do with wires....I remember someone telling me about this when I had problems with my MAF sensor. Hopefully you didn't damage the wires on the MAF sensor....or if you did, hopefully...

Sounds like you messed up something with the MAF sensor. You do have one.... What where you trying to get at the sensor for? When you unscrewed the two screws, what did you see/do/touch?

    fuel door?

They are the same. My 88 has the cable release as well as the lock on the door itself. Can be opened either way.

Any more young guns out there?

I'm 18....turning 19 in 2 weeks. I've been in my four runner for all of those years except one. My parents bought the car in '88 and it was driven everywhere. The only year I wasn't in it was when they both got new cars in ~2000... They kept using it for a while and then let it sit until I...

Could this be the new 4Runner?

Not really a huge fan of the styling.... Didn't look in detail at the specs...
