255/75/17's and FJ Wheels, the perfect pair?

Those are nice wheels, but I am partial to my tundra/sequoia wheels :D. Either way it's nice to push the track width out a little wider! Currently running the 255/80r17 km2. Along with studded 265/75r16 winter tires on the original sr5 wheels.

    Leaking valve stem?

I would say tire shop as well. Those aluminum stems tend to corrode and can leak from a few different spots. The do break easily if over tightened. Any decent tire shop will have replacement stems that can be swapped onto your existing tpms sensor, or a complete sensor/stem assembly for around...

    Front Brake change turned strange

Sounds like sticking calipers. When you installed the new pads and rotors, you must have had to compress the caliper pistons in order to fit the new pads onto the rotors. Did they move freely? Or was it difficult to compress them? Try installing 3 lug nuts directly against the rotor and see if...

Toyo Open Country MT on 4th gen

I have heard this rumor as well, but can't confirm either way. The most important thing to remember with mud terrains is rotate with every oil change. Especially on IFS rigs.

Toyo Open Country MT on 4th gen

255/85r16 toyo m/t's. Ran them on my 3rd gen for 2 seasons, and 1 more season on the 4th gen. (I have studded tires for winter). I'd say I got at least 60,000kms out of them. Still had 20-30% left when I sold them. I definitely wasn't nice to them either. Probably 3-400 km per week offroad...

    Fairing for factory roof rack?

Smittybilt Overlander. I found most of the RTTs are almost identical designs. (I do have the rubber end caps that go into the rail ends. ) I wish I could afford the CVT, but unfortunately the markup to get one in Canada is a bit absurd. Managed to get the smittybilt through one of my work...

    Fairing for factory roof rack?

Ya the tent is mounted directly to the factory rails. Not the cross bars! It is very sturdy.

    Fairing for factory roof rack?

Ya that makes sense. 1-2mpg loss isn't too bad. I do have another long distance trip in June as well, so I guess that will be a good test for it!

    Fairing for factory roof rack?

Has anyone made a fairing to work with the factory roof rack? Going on a 1000km+ trip in July and we will have the new RTT with us. Hoping to cut down on wind resistance (and possible noise) since 80% of the trip will be at highway speeds. All of my cargo always goes inside the vehicle, so...

    17 inch skinny tires question

I'm currently running the 255/80r17 km2 on sequoia wheels. Previously had the 255/85r16 toyo mt on sr5 wheels. As for lift, 5100s on the highest setting (2.5" I believe), with 1.5" coil spacers in the rear. Didn't have much issues fitting the toyo's on the stock offset wheels, but when I...

Attaching a RTT to the 4th Gen sport roofrack

Not familiar with the differences between the sport rack and my sr5 one, but I ended up mounting our RTT to the factory side rails. There is just enough height to clear the cross bars without having to remove them, and the rails are more than strong enough. Keep in mind you will probably have...

    dkyleb's Overland Build Thread

It says Alberta under your avatar, but the Lucky lager cans are a dead giveaway. You've spent time on the island... Nice build btw!

Sounds like your 4runner died of embarrassment from being rescued by a barbie jeep...

    Got my 15 posts!

What ladder is that? And does it allow the hatch to open normally?
