Just upgraded from a Highlander. You made a good choice. As many times as I have taken ours off-road, 4wd was a luxury not necessary. We picked up a 2017 4wd for $28k. It was Toyota Certified from a dealer with 100k warranty. It doesn’t have leather or 3rd row (which my wife would’ve loved)...

Be careful asking for a turbo diesel. My new Chevy Colorado 2.8L sucks driving around town. Awesome that it can tow 7700lbs. But not really practical for me. The power and feel of a NA engine in comparison is why Toyota keeps making them.

Your gear volume shows the value of needing as much rack space as possible. If OP is just looking for a basket (could potentially spend $300-500 on setting one up) I would think the best value would be to put that $300-500 towards a larger rack that will be well utilized.
