Very happy to finally get the rig running in tip top shape after battling niggling issues from the 5 speed swap. It's dirty and a work in progress, but here goes - '97 Limited /w e-locker & 5.29 gears 5 speed swap 5VZ /w gen 2 TRD Supercharger 7th Injector kit, Supra MAF and all supporting mods...

I didn't get a chance to see if they heat up with the key on, but can confirm they get power which you already know, sorry.

Rock_Rat, my 97 Limited is throwing p0330 after the manual swap. I found the 3 wires to the sub assembly, presumably 1 to each knock sensor, where does the 3rd one go? Is it a ground? Thanks.

onemanarmy my truck is fixed! Turns out there was a bit of corrosion in one of the plugs in the 5spd ECU i got from the junkyard. It's been 3 days with no codes and drives 100x better than before. Hope you get your truck sorted out too.

Hope someone can chime in and lead both of us in the right direction.

Threw on the bronze TE37s, Hilux Surf spoiler, ARB bumper, JDM corners and Bushwacker flares last week. Finally got around to giving it a good wash today.

Makes sense JWaldz. Here is the root of my confusion - 3423010 = 2nd gen Taco 3423020 = 1st Taco (what we need) 3423030/130 = 2nd gen Taco

Thanks for the reply, that's what i figured too. I actually want a wider bumper because I'm putting on Bushwacker flares. The biggest question I have is if the bumper's brackets line up with the 3rd gen 4R's frame rail (I can do the end cap mod no problem).

I also found a ARB 3423030 (05-11 Taco) for cheap, anyone know if this can be retrofitted to a 3rd gen 4R?
