Replaced sway bar links, swimming all over the place now

Could you expand on your thought? Yes. The rear links may be over torqued at the top, but I don’t think it would have such an effect. Everything else is to tightened to specs. Today, I took apart the whole thing at the front again. Took off the links, loosened the sway bar brackets, and then...

Replaced sway bar links, swimming all over the place now

Hey fellas, So I replaced the front left link and the right at the rear. Driving, I right away noticed random pull to one side, then the other. Basically the truck appears to be swimming on the road. You have to correct it with the steering wheel. So I replaced the remaining two links. No...

Odd key behavior? Car runs without a key???

A while back I found out the same thing about my vehicle, also by accident. Didn't think much of it and was sure all 4Runners are like that (this is the first time I am finding out they are not, lol). Then one day, I thought that it is probably done so that i can start the vehicle, take the key...

Vibration when braking from high speeds

Depending on how old the rotors are, your driving habits, etc. I would definitely be looking at the rotors first. You will always feel the vibration at high speeds first due to bad rotors. Give it time and you will feel it at lower speeds as well.

Power steering flush: I like this method. What do you guys think?

I did mine using this method: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/176877-power-steering-hose-size.html I did it by myself and used just over a litre of fluid. We later did the same on my cousin's Tacoma and did it together and used less than a litre of fluid because I could actually see...

Noticed Steering is a little harder than normal

Just checked that eBay listing and it ain’t cheap anymore. I paid about $130 all in, including shipping and duties to Canada. Thanks, AuSeeker, lol.

Noticed Steering is a little harder than normal

I have been through something similar not long ago: What is wrong with my steering? My problem was a bit more exposed, but I actually bought the shaft without checking mine first because after reading through the links that Bossman posted and what AuSeeker and others wrote, I was convinced that...

Another reason why I love my 4Runner

I have been told quite a few times during the hunting season that I drove up in the wrong vehicle. My response usually is:

Yet another rear differential breather mod with photos (tail light)

^ Thanks, man. Definitely an option I will consider.

What is wrong with my steering?

I hope it will help someone else, rather than discourage them from doing this job on their own, lol. It is not that easy crawling under there taking photos. Yes, those splines have to be spot on. I would bet I was off by no more than two splines and the steering wheel was quite off. The wheels...

Yet another rear differential breather mod with photos (tail light)

Both good suggestions. Not sure either will work. Not sure I want to buy an impact driver either (I don't think it is available for rent at the local parts store). So far I tried a two feet long breaker bar with a 1.5 or so feet long pipe on it. I also tried an air gun that about a month ago...

What is wrong with my steering?

I realized I did not finish what I started in the post above. Since someone may find this info useful, I will wrap it up. Ok, I did win the next day! First thing I did was to try and get the shaft out with a pry bar the next day. That did not work. I don't think I mentioned in the previous post...

Yet another rear differential breather mod with photos (tail light)

^ Thanks. Hope it helps someone on their endeavors. Yes, I was thinking about it and I did get the fill plug loose about three weeks ago. I will try again in a few days and see what happens. I keep spraying daily around the plug with Deep Creep that Bossman recommended in another thread. Will...

Yet another rear differential breather mod with photos (tail light)

Replaced the gear oil in the transfer case and rear differential after modifying the breather. The oil was clean, just slightly darker than the new one. Transfer case was particularly clean. Also, hardly any gunk on the magnet on the drain plug from the rear differential. Still can't get the...

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Replaced bulbs in the temperature/clock LCD panel. Probably the easiest thing a guy could do in this vehicle. I will finally be able to see the time and whatnot without having to turn on the light on top while squinting, lol.
