Looks like I was able to get this fixed. Seems like the primary issue was a non OEM blower assembly someone installed. I replaced this with am OEM blower and alternator - problem appears to be solved...

My 99 did come stock with 16" wheels.

I am assuming that since I have a 4wd I have the "tall" springs? I just passed the 200K mile mark and needed to replace shocks, struts, bushings, steering rack, etc.. While I was in there I replaced the springs as well on all 4 corners.... You are welcome to them if you pay for the shipping...

You're right. The problem is motor going lean - if you look at Gadget's kits, they include not only a 7th injector but also an upgraded fuel pump....Lots of discussion about this over at yotatech.... Texas 4runner is right about the dyno .... If it was mine, I would go with the URD 7th...

I don't know if you got your AC problem figured out or not, but.....if your vent temps are not where they should be, there is an easy way to "check" the condition of your AC sytem charge state. If the refrigerant is low, it will lead to higher vent temps. Between the grill and the bulkhead, on...

You don't say what year you have but I am guessing that 3rd gens are the same....sounds like it might be CV joint noise. Usually the outer ones go first - check to see if your boots are split and grease is slung all over your wheel well. If you find this then it is probably time to swap out...
