That sounds like the same noise I'm experiencing. It just strange how its not a common problem with all 4Runners. My vehicle is bone stock and has 13,000 miles on it. I should figure out if the noise is coming from the rear or the front.

The dealer is saying the clank is due to the break pad moving after switching from drive to reverse. Is this normal/acceptable?

I've been out of the country for awhile, apologize for the delay. I had my buddy listen and he said it sounded like the noise was coming from the front end. I just took it to the dealer this morning and the service rep said it is probably due to "shifting break pads". Hopefully they fix it...

It really doesn't make a difference how far I drive actually. It will happen no matter if I'm reversing out of garage in the morning. Also being on an incline surface will elicit the same noise.

It definitely is just an isolated "clunk" noise coming from the rear end somewhere. The vehicle doesn't shake or anything.

This did the trick. For anyone having issues playing a streaming service (Spotify), try downloading a song from iTunes onto Apple Music. Doing this somehow allows for Spotify to play.
