I put 4.10's in my GX on 34's but that's easy since it's a 8" ring gear and with some case mods you can install a Tacoma elocker. Front gears are available for the 8" clam shell, which is the same or similar to the 5th gen.
Would it be easier to swap a 8" rear diff in from a older FJC or 4th...
Here is my 2010 shoreline blue trail.
C4 bumpers, rci skids, RSG sliders, custom Icon's done by me at Home | 303 Shock Services. It needs gears now with the 34's.
What did you find was different between the 4th and 5th racks? I also have Gx470 (4th gen) that needs a new rack and components and I'm curious if I can buy 5th gen parts as an upgrade over what came stock.
Thanks!
Normal 2.5 OD shock has roughly 2.25 ID and a piston sized accordingly with the wear bands on the piston, exact sizes vary by manufacturer.
46mm is a normal size for a 2.0 OD shock. So fox uses off the shelf 2.0 piston in the bypass cylinder inside the 2.5 OD body of the internal bypasses. ALL...
Internal bypass, similar to if not the same as the factory Gen 1 Raptor Fox shocks.
Basically a center cylinder inside the body with holes that allow oil to bypass the piston.
Radflo are cheap compared to all other rebuildable shocks on the market besides FOA. I didn't say anything about Bilstien, OME, white rocket auto parts store specials because they do not apply nor are they in the same class.
The bearings? I've replaced more "china" branded COM10 bearings on...
I've had every shock manufacturer apart to rebuild or revalve. When you see the corners cut on the internals and machining just to save a few pennies but not gain anything in performance or reliability they gain a reputation. They are the cheapest bolt in shocks on the market for a reason, and...
Anything that just bolts into a T4R or any SUV is no way a LT suspension. If you decided to run shocks into the cab, ditched the factory fuel tank, and ran some beefy lower links to run the shocks off of then your getting closer to LT. Southern style (I think) did it with a GX470. Rear seats...
The Icon kit is your best bet for a bolt in Air bump solution.

FYI there is no "long travel" kits for a T4R unless you remove the factory fuel tank. The factory geometry and fuel tank to link arm placement limits what can be done with...
Try a ball joint press. Sharpen a bolt or smaller than 14mm solid stock to push the bolt out. Make sure the open end of the press fits over the head of the bolt.

If that doesn't get it I will cut and replace the bolt and spacers. Cut off...
I agree and I tubbed 3" out of the cab on my extra cab but haven't made it back to Baja to prerun anything in 5+ years so it might rub but there isn't a pinch weld there anymore to cut the tire, mostly smooth sheet metal.
I've built a few prerunner in my day and what you think will clear or...
Pull the coilover and cycle with a jack in your garage, easy to do. I fit 315's or even a 37 BFG (they run super small) on one of my 1st gen Tacoma's this way. I cut the stock bumps in half and used that as my compression stop and still tried to make sure I had 0.5" of clearance around the tire...
Any shock on the market is going to be needing to be replaced or rebuilt at 50K. I have rebuilt hundreds of shocks, all brands, over the years and 40-50K is the max you will get out of the oil before it needs to be changed. If you're running a 2.0 the service interval needs to be cut in half...
