Mine was rail dust and particulate that settled on the back during driving. I regularly have to use IronX and claybar the area. I think it's also about time to reapply my CQuartz to that area. It just seems prone to getting gunked due to where the exhaust is and how the air flows over that...

Mine is on...we'll all except one bolt. One of the channels is blocked and can't slide the head of the bolt through. I've put a call in to front runner about getting a new cross member. It's a great looking piece of gear, just this one minor hiccup.
