    Icon, Fox, King...

The King/Icon setups are cool for adjust-ability and ride but the heim joints are an endless service nightmare unless they can be greased. They are always noisy and you get more road vibration into the chassis. For 1-2" of lift, all the stock parts work fine since these trucks are lowered for...

    Finally Front Disco's That Work

Dave, That is the design I came up with six years ago for the 120 series and numerous people copied it. It works for the 6th Gen as well. You have to check the connections on the spindle upright occasionally to make sure they don't get loose. swaybar stats w/pix - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum...

GX460 Motor in our 5th Gen?

LOL I've had to many toyotas in my life. I mistyped. The 4th Gen and the GX470 are the same platform. The 3rd Gen 90 series is the Hilux Surf Prado I think.

GX460 Motor in our 5th Gen?

I actually have a GX470 (120 series not the 150). I bought it used and couldn't find a Sport with KDSS. Dropped in an ARB locker, put in a 120 series Toytec lift, bent up some sliders in my garage and came up with a creative swaybar disconnect. The 3rd 4Runner and GX470 also share the same frame...

On the 4th gens, how do you propose to keep the disconnected sway bar from destroying the CV?

    Difference between a 460/470?

GX460 is a 150 series GX470 is a 120 series I didn't think the 5th Gen 4Runner came with the 4.6l; just the GX. Though there is a 150 series 4Runner with a V6. Around 2005 the 4.7l was revised to vvti with more power and efficiency. Look for that. Old thread. Never mind

    Why is Prado taller?

Toyota changes the chassis ride height with different springs. 3rd Gens are a good example. '99 being the tallest but you can swap the '99 springs into other years. Of course some use air springs and you can just adjust the sensor arms.

    Tow Rating

Might be prudent to consider the Gross Combined Weight rating of your vehicle. Few people consider it.

    Transmission Temps: Observations and Revelation

Make sure not to zip tie the cooler to the radiator or condenser. The fins and passages aren't designed to carry weight. Off road the vibration may cause you to spring a leak.

    Post Your Camper

I'll toss in another Trail Manor Rear Camera is nice It's about 4000lb loaded up. 3000 dry. I've towed it everywhere with my 3.4l 3rd with and without a supercharger on 33s. Now I tow with the GX. Bought it used to for $12K and had it six years.

    Tent camping vs trailer camping.

Tent campers are a lot more work than tents. If you step up, you may want to consider a hardwall. We have a Trailmanor which is folding and hard wall.

    V6 vs V8 guidance

For the record there is more than one 4WD system on the 4Runner. My dad's '05 doesn't have the center lock (aka full time 4WD) When you shift in 4WD, the center is locked. No button. Just 2H 4H 4L on the shifter. There are also two V8's depending on the year. The early ones with 245hp and the...

    85 4runner suspension setups

Weld in some Ford shock hoops up front so you can get longer shocks in there. Hysteer at some point especially with 36"s unless you're not really going to wheel it. Otherwise a spare J arm would be a handy part for the trail. They are cast iron and tough to weld back together in the dirt. Chevy...
