    4Runner/Duratracs up to the task

I'm planning to bring my truck in to get checked out, I want to make sure there was no latent damage caused that might come back to haunt me in the future. I'm not much of a mechanic -- other than the tires/rims, what should I ask the mechanic to look at? What else can get damaged when you hit a...

    4Runner/Duratracs up to the task

Not a story about an expedition on some remote trail, rather it was an ordinary trip down the highway, going about 60 mph and hit a HUGE pothole. The entire truck jumped up, and as I crested the hill, I saw literally 60 cars stopped in the right lane with blown tires, axle damage and who knows...

    AT Tires

If you are going through the trouble of selling your rims and buying new ones, I'd look for something wider than the TE rims. You only get an extra half inch.

    Third Row Downside?

I just used my third row for the first time, thought I'd report. I fit 4 adults and two kids in car seats into the truck. That, by itself, is pretty amazing. We were able to avoid having to take the car seat in and out to access the third row by climbing in through the back. It took a little...

    2014 SR-5 - 4X4 Sell

For what its worth, I was very pleased with Carmax. In september I sold my 2009 Infiniti G37 to Carmax. They gave me $18,000 for it and its now listed for sale at $19,999. They gave me $2 grand less than what they were going to sell it for, which I think is pretty amazing. I think your rig in...

    Best meaty tires for snow

These tires don't get much attention, but if you're looking for a good quality winter/snow tire in stock size and a reasonable price, these may be the way to go. They got the highest rating by consumer reports, and are cheaper than many others...

    Saturday adventure: Colorado

The Swiss trail is pretty fun. Great views and pretty easy. I ran it in my totally stock SR5 (including stock tires). You should stop in Nederland for lunch and pick up some of Colorado's "state flower" while you're there.

    Help with potential purchase

Exactly. With the way 4Runners hold their value, buying a 1 or 2 year old model just didn't make sense to me. There's risk involved with buying used, and with the 4Runners at least, not much benefit. I went with the SR5 over the limited to afford a new one -- and love it. Just my 2 cents.

    MPG for LE 4WD

Another factor in fuel economy is altitude. Some people are surprised to learn that higher altitude = better fuel economy. I easily get 20 mpg in my stock SR5 combined city and highway here in Colorado. But at sea level, it might be closer to 18 (I drive like an old lady).

    factory vs. thule/yakima (roof rack)

Thanks Crack- Do you know how much of a PIA it is to remove the fat cat bars? If I were to do it every week, would I hate it? I was thinking about putting them on the truck on Fridays, before I hit the slopes for the weekend, and then taking them off on Sunday night, so by Monday morning when I...

    factory vs. thule/yakima (roof rack)

First of all, let me admit that I am not an expert. I am in the process or trying to figure this out. But I thought that you need two main components for a ski/snowboard rack: 1) crossbars (the bars that go across the roof from side to side) and 2) some sort of snowboard carrier or mount that...
