    Driveline "clunk" fix?

Cool... glad that worked for him. I didn't open the thread to read the story. But now that I have, is that a hitch shackle being used off-road? Where is Thai when you need him;)

Tell him to try greasing the slip yoke. Many members have had success with that simple maintenace procedure.

    Disturbing news here in Wi.

Someone dumb enough to stick his leg into a chipper shouldn't expect to have it very long! Did you know that stupid people are 52% more likely to die in an accident? I guess it can be considered thinning out the gene pool.

What towing package do I have? 2003, V6

You do not have the weight distributing hitch, so I believe the maximum tow rating for your 4Runner is 5000 lbs.

    Hitch shackle

Where is the best place to attach a tow strap on the front of my 4Runner? I know that we have a small loop under the front end, but I'm not sure if that is supposed to be used for a tow strap. I don't want to bend or break anything if I'm stuck and need to be pulled out. I wish we had those...

    Hitch shackle

I'm not planning on driving around with it sticking out of my hitch!! I'm only going to use it for recovery (my vehicle or others!) in snow. I don't like the idea of using my hitch pin inside the recovery strap loop. I've heard that the pin can bend or you can destroy the strap if you're...

    Hitch shackle

For some reason, ebay won't allow the link. It's from an ebay store-- Jeeperz-Creeperz.com. It's a "Rugged Ridge" hitch shackle for $24.95

    4Runner vs Xterra

Yeah, I think you're basically limited to spacer lifts with XREAS. If you want to lift more than 3 or 4 inches with the XREAS, you can simply disconnect the hydraulic lines and replace the shocks. Are you planning on a serious off-road vehicle? If so, then skip the XREAS system.

    4Runner vs Xterra

The advantage is in the ability to turn it off. At least the V6 models give you the option. I prefer driving my 4Runner in 2wd unless I need the 4wd. Believe it or not, you can feel a differece in the vehicle. And the steering feels better in 2wd.

    Hitch shackle

Is this a good deal on a hitch shackle? The price seems very low, so I'm not sure if the unit is good quality or not. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Receiver-Hitch-Shackle-Bracket-w-Shackle-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33653QQihZ007QQitemZ170014622485QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

    4Runner vs Xterra

What I meant by an advantage is that you can drive it on all the time (like the V8) or turn it off if you desire. I consider that an advantage. If I want to have the full-time 4wd system of the V8 models, I simply turn the switch!

    4Runner vs Xterra

Why remove the carpets? The Weathertech or Catch-All Extremes will totally cover the carpet in the footwell area, so there's really no need to remove the carpet. XREAS is really nothing more than a hydraulic diagnol link between the shock absorbers. It is intended to help on-road handling, but...

    Should "Fourty-four" be BANNED??

Hmmm... interesting quesiton. Should I be banned? Well, lets see... it doesn't really matter if I banned or not. This will be my last post on this forum. Why? 1- The moderators here are obviously not very well versed in fair and equal treatment. Anyone that refers back to the thread that got...

    04 4runner vs 05 4runner

No changes from '04 to '05. In fact, other than the V6 engine getting the 5-speed automatic, nothing drivetrain related was changed. You will probably be equally happy with either year.
