Up on jacks and running, cannot rotate Right wheels by hand

Thank you to everyone who responded. I will take your suggestions on lubing the calipers and cables and try driving around to see if things loosen up. Its just an odd coincidence that 2 wheels on the same side would lock up at the same time with no prior warning or symptoms. I can see one...

Up on jacks and running, cannot rotate Right wheels by hand

hello, With my 4Runner up on jackstands, no matter what drive mode it is in (2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, locked, unlocked, reverse, etc.), only the Lefts wheels rotate. The Right wheels remain NOT rotating AND I cannot rotate either Right wheel by hand. Although it is common to see only 2...

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Up on stands and running, only Left 2 wheels spin Today, I started up the 2007 4runner V6 while on jackstands (the stands do not touch the wheels). Regardless of what drive position it is in (2 wheel, 4 wheel, reverse, etc.) only the Left wheels spin. The Right wheels do not spin and I...

    Greasing Driveshaft (4th Gen)

If the problem keeps returning, I would just get a rebuilt shaft and replace it myself. It shouldn't be that difficult and there are probably Youtubes on it. The more I read about repair shops which mess up the vehicle even more, and/or unexperienced mechanics, I prefer to do my own work...

    Greasing Driveshaft (4th Gen)

I think my cartridge has an expiration date on it. But it only cost $8 so even if it doesn't have a date, why not use it annually for about 3-4 years and toss it because its so cheap to buy another one. Also, its recommended to pump in new grease into the nipples which lubricates the U-joints...

    Greasing Driveshaft (4th Gen)

I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that the clunk is a symptom of a worn driveshaft joint. Not a huge deal since that joint can be replaced, or a remanufactured driveshaft with new joints already on it. Because of such reports, I plan on using my grease gun and lubing each nipple...

    Greasing Driveshaft (4th Gen)

There are different size zerk nipples. How do we know if the grease gun will fit the zerk nipples on the 4Runner? Do we just buy a general purpose grease gun from Harbor Frieght?

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I went to change the trans fluid today with cold engine. I first removed the 5mm overflow plug and about 1.5 quarts came out. I expected none to come out since the engine was cold. Then I removed the drain plug and another 1.8 quarts came out for a total of 3.3 quarts. This total sounds...

anything I can do or buy to improve gas mileage!

Several threads on gas mileage mention the following suggestions: 1) Putting Mobile 1 full synthetic gear oil in the rear diff - especially since that's the diff we use the most. 2) Increase tire pressure. 3) Decrease Right foot pressure on throttle. In addition I will put full synthetic...
