get a stethoscope and listen around. Could be power steering pump, water pump (watch your coolant level), alternator, etc...

The panel it's on should pull straight up and out. Disconnect the wires once you have it up and then it's a pretty simple replacement if it's like the ones I've done before. They pretty much just clamp in around the plastic trim panel it's installed on. Look at the first steps in this thread...

I had to pull up a few iron fence posts this weekend and I broke out the old chain. Needed a way to hold it to the hitch and cam up with this solution... the 2GR-FE rod held up better than the chain did (maybe due to the arp rod bolts)!

You could also do a herculiner roll-on bedliner in the interior. Pull the carpet and roll this stuff on. We did this on the gen2 4runner and it worked pretty well, but you will see all the contours of the floor so you'll have to run a floormat over it (like your weather tech ones) to still look...

^^ I think he missed the conversarion. Go with the Denso or NGK Iridiums. I put them in mine after pulling the original plugs at 100k. Originals aren't iridiums by the way, just a copper NGK on one bank and Denso on the other bank

^^ What he said. I had mine flushed (with ALL other fluids at 90k and have been fine with 125k on her now and running like new. Another thing to watch for is the water pump. If it starts to go, it'll leak fluid through the bearing. When you're low on fluid it'll run hot and warp the head/block...

This just makes me think of all the threads on keeping textured surfaces clean. Paint just won't stand up well, but the powder-coat shouldn't have chipping issues at all. The Powder is baked on to cure out and should be strong as anything. Seeing as people put it on wheels where they'll see...
