    Climate Control Module question

For what it's worth, I would encourage you not to get the digital climate control. Not that you probably want to deal with the additional expense of the add-ons necessary to pull this off, but that's the one thing I do not like about my 99 Limited. If I could replace it with a standard switch...

    Synthetic Engine Oil

I wanted to piggy back on this question and ask a couple of opinions. I talked with my mechanic yesterday about switching over to Mobil 1. I have a 99 Limited 4WD with about 140k miles. What are the advantages for me in making this switch and will, or, are there typically any positive and/or...

Standard life for 3rd Gen. Brakes

Quick question regarding rotors. With my 4Runner being 4WD what should I expect to pay for new stock rotors? I think I'm going to give one new set of stock rotors a try to eliminate this braking vibration problem and if it doesn't work then I'll most likely switch over to the Tundra Upgrade...

All at once, or in steps (improve MPG)

    Gotcha. Thanks!

MilesRacker, is that synthetic or regular Mobil 1 oil? Thanks!

Could this be the new 4Runner?

If this is what I think it is it's not the future 4Runner. I actually saw one of these parked in front of someone's home in the Turks and Caicos a few months back. Took a minute to really look it over. Looks almost just like the Lexus. It's definitely more luxurious.

Ride quality on 3rd Gen with stock shocks

Lewis, I have a Limited '99 4wd and my truck is still very stock. While I haven't felt the difference between upfitted dampers vs. stock I do a good bit of riding around the Appalachian Mountains and many of those roads are gravel and really nothing more than back road cut-throughs that are...

Standard life for 3rd Gen. Brakes

He's a good guy. He's just estimating. He said the life could vary, but based on what he's used to he said it looks like there's maybe about 3k left.

Standard life for 3rd Gen. Brakes

Thank you all for the replies. I also have a lot of warping issues with my rotos. When I replaced the brake pads the last time I had them "machine" the rotos to try and make the braking smoother. However, evem after machining the rotors I still have some shaking when braking at higher speeds...

Standard life for 3rd Gen. Brakes

Ghostrider, what does "YMMV" mean? If it does turn out that I'm burn through my brakes too fast, what type of brake pads should I request and or purchase?

Standard life for 3rd Gen. Brakes

Gentlemen, Got a question for you all. How long, typically, should I expect my brakes to last? I was told this week that my brake pads are almost gone and I haven't even had new brakes for a year. I trust my mechanic, so I don't think I'm being mislead. I know Landcruisers burn through...

    My P0301 experience:

I've had a similar problem and found that my coils were going bad. In essense I have replaced all but one coil that has yet to go bad. I had a terrible problem with misfiring and once I isolated the problem down to the coil I was in good shape. However, on once instance I had a problem where...

    floor mats and cargo liner

Will do. I may go look at them tomorrow. The local 4 wheel drive performance store in Charlotte is running a sale on Husky mats right now. If I get them I'll be sure and post a few pics.

    Online parts

Regarding finding genuine Toyota Parts, you might check with Shannon at Toyota World in Houston (just google Toyota World). I went through them to get my A/C Control head replacement and saved a few hundred dollars. Well worth my time and the wait for them to ship to Charlotte. **MODs, if I'm...

    floor mats and cargo liner

I'm leaning towards black, but with the wood-grain dash I'm worried it may be too much. The tan mats sometimes look a little cheap which is why I'm hesitant. I guess this'll just be a personal preference selection. There's definitely no right or wrong answer.
