It’s got around 205k. Put bilstein 5100s on it about 7 years ago.

I put bilsteins on about 7 years ago and they were never really that comfortable. It’s a 2wd, yeah.

    Ride smoothing

This is exactly what I was hoping for! Interesting you mention the highway rear sway. When I’m on the highway I feel like the front is being lifted and the tires are barely touching the ground. Makes for a very unsettling drive. It’s got 205k miles and the shocks were replaced about 6-7 years...

    Ride smoothing

Hey all, 2002 3rd gen v6 Sport here. I want to make it my all around daily driver but the ride harshness is keeping me from doing that. I just want to make it as forgiving over bumps as much as possible without it being a swaying boat. Dare I say, make it feel more “modern”. What exactly...

    Phantom power draw

Yeah, this got off track. Anyway, I'm testing with a friend's meter tomorrow so we'll see what we find!

    Holy crap. Ammeters are expensive!

    Huge Parasitic Battery Drain Problem

Which "cable" are you referring to? I'm experiencing the same issue as the original poster on this thread.

    Phantom power draw

Over the last couple of months my '02 has been draining its battery VERY quickly. I replaced the old battery with a new one and the problem persists. I've had the alternator checked and there are no lights being left on or habit differences in how I use or drive it. Please help! I never know...

best shocks for street and highway ride

Nice and simple. I like it! I'm starting to feel much more comfortable with the idea of installing the parts myself. Maybe even the shocks too. We shall see! I should be getting either the front or rear shocks next week but one of them is still on back order until mid-June. I'll report back...

best shocks for street and highway ride

Found the Bilstein 4600's at summit. Back-ordered until June. Found this excellent write up on the Addco bars: Toyota 4Runner Handling Modifications Addco Sway Roll Bars A little concerned that it doesn't seem like a true direct fit (given the amount of parts needed beyond what's in the box)...

Best answer yet, thank you :) I'll see if I can find them. Also was going to put addco sway bars on the front and rear. Don't remember if it was you who suggested them or not but it sounded like a good idea. Worth it in your opinion?

best shocks for street and highway ride

I guess now that you mention too soft, what I'm looking for is tight and absorbent. Like the bumps just disappear in to the truck but without the roll associated with "soft" shocks. Yeah, that's what I want. A modern feeling suspension. So that being said, what does everybody think is best...

best shocks for street and highway ride

Yeah, turns out the KYB price was WAY over-inflated by the vendor (which happened to be autozone). It took you time to "get used to" the Bilsteins? What was it about them?

best shocks for street and highway ride

Here's the best description I've found for what I'm looking for. It's from the Bilstein website, model #4600: "Utilizing our patented design, the dampers allow the vehicle to glide over every type of road surface you may encounter while maintaining complete command at all times." GLIDE -...

best shocks for street and highway ride

And also I'm not looking for the truck to feel like a Caddy per se, just want it to feel confident during city driving. It's the constant bashing of road bumps that makes me feel like I could do much better with new...
